You can never hold a baby too much. There is NO such thing as spoiling your baby by holding them. This is an ignorant, non scientific theory passed on. We now have science that tells us the nervous systems of infants is immature and they need to be held in order for optimal brain health. Holding your baby as they wish, not only makes them happier but it makes their brains happier and smarter. Touch wires your baby’s brain for love and good emotional regulation. Connection is the foundation of mental health so take every chance to connect physically with your baby. @blossomandberrybabymassage

Over the last few weeks we have seen birth plans torn apart by care providers, we have seen women torn down, ridiculed and belittled for wanting to express their preferences and how they want to birth and be supported. We have watched time and time again images of birth be removed, birth workers be banned - mothers and birth being censored.⠀
Over many years birth has been hidden, all its glory, all its beauty and strength removed. Birth has been covered, blinded, reported and shamed. Mothers have been blinded, misguided, misinformed, judged, bullied and coerced.⠀
When we think of birth we never think of it being, taboo or censored, we never think of a mother being bullied or walking into birth blindfolded - however this is whats happening.⠀
Some women are giving birth unsupported and misinformed from some care providers, birth plans are being ignored and tossed aside and images of birth are being removed and censored.⠀
So why am I posting this - because I want the world to see birth for what it truely is! beautiful, inspiring, raw, empowering, emotional and darn frickin amazing!! I want birthing women to know that they have a voice, they can take back their birth and be educated, informed of their options and choices and rock their birth full of power and strength.⠀
Its time to remove the blindfold, its time to remove the censorship. Its time for birthing women to be heard, listened and supported!⠀
Birth is beautiful.⠀
Never underestimate the power of support.
Support can come in a variety of forms, from listening, speaking, to encouragement, to a simple touch, look or embrace.
Support is acknowledging, helping and showing someone you believie in them and what they want to achieve and not trying to change their mind - support is knowing what they are capable of and being in awe and amazed of what they have done.
Support can change an outcome.
Support can change feelings.
Support can change a view.
Support can change emotions.
Support can change a mother.
Support can change labour.
Support can change birth.
Support is powerful.
Support CAN make a difference.
Never underestimate the power of support. #birthabilityeducation#partnersupportlearntosupportinbirth#supportmakesadifference#supportispowerfull#birthispowerfull#birthisraw#embraceyourbirthability#embracebirth

Last night was week 5 in Late Night Lamaze at @thespot326 class and we talked "cascade of interventions". During this class every couple receives a numbered box. As we go 1 through 12 they read a piece of a birth story. Box 1 includes a small seemingly insignificant intervention. As the birth story goes on the interventions mount and the stack of boxes become harder to handle.
As you can see by the photographic evidence this dad had zero problems handling this "birth". 😉😊. But it's not so easy to handle the snowball effect that can happen with interventions. In Lamaze we are preparing our Moms and Dads to choose interventions wisely!
