Just in case you’ve been wondering what I’ve been doing with my life since fall 2016, well, here’s a partial answer! I’m so excited some details have finally come to light about this project. I worked in the 3D print processing department. I couldn’t be prouder, and loved getting to work with such a talented crew. #laika
Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana and Zach Galifiankis are going to lend their voices for an upcoming animated film from LAIKA, the studio behind Coraline & Kubo and the Two Strings. Not much is known about the movie, but the fact these three great actors will be in a LAIKA film is enough to grab my attention.
Tú nos has dado tanto leoncita, tú qué has luchado tanto por aguantar y aguantar ...

BREAKING: It’s just been announced that Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana, and Zach Galifianakis will star in the next film from Oregon-based animation studio Laika. The film, which is simply being called “Film Five”, will be the fifth feature film from the stop-motion animation studio, best known for it’s Academy Award-nominated films Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and Kubo And The Two Strings, which are all easily some of the most iconic and beloved stop-motion animated films of all-time for their unique style. Although it doesn’t have a title yet, the presumably original story for Film Five is described as follows; “Bursting with humour, heart, and a profound message of acceptance and finding one’s place, the animation team at Laika is thrilled to be bringing this globetrotting comedy-adventure to life.” Chris Butler (the director of ParaNorman) will direct the project. Here’s what Laika CEO Travis Knight had to say about the future of Laika and “Film Five”; Our next film represents an evolutionary shift for Laika. It’s an exciting bridge to our future. Director Chris Butler and the wizards at Laika have crafted a moving work of art, layered with wit and imagination and soul. Plus it’s really, really funny. It’s a privilege to partner with Megan and her exceptional team at Annapurna to bring this beautiful original story to the world.” Along with the announcement of the new film came the reveal that Laika will no longer have their films distributed by Focus Features, and will instead be partnering with Annapurna Pictures. I love Laika’s films, they really are amazing, I don’t know who doesn’t love them, the cast sounds great... so yeah, I’m hyped for it. Knight revealed in an interview back in 2016 that Laika’s next film (which was at that time most likely this film) will have adults as it’s main characters unlike all it’s other films to date which have had kids as the leads. It was announced in March 2015 the studio would be expanded to allow for production of one film per year. (Continued in the comments)
@laikastudios has announced the production of its’ 5th animated feature film! Laika is partnering with @annapurnapics for the U.S. distribution of the upcoming film. Chris Butler will direct the new film temporarily titled “Film Five”—since it is Laika’s fifth stop motion animated feature. In a statement from The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Butler is quoted saying that the film is “bursting with humor, heart, and a profound message of acceptance and finding one’s place”. However, the plot details have yet to be disclosed. The announcement of the film is a good sign for the future of stop-motion animation!
