A group of thirsty impalas jump to avoid a crocodile that had been hidden in the water at the edge of a river in Kruger National Park, South Africa. The unusual shot was captured by amateur photographer John Mullineux; “In the hours I sat there, there were five attempts – but every time the impalas got away. This was a quintessential African experience, but a scene I have never photographed.“ Crocodiles are believed to have changed very little in the past 20 million years. These large, aquatic reptiles tend to congregate in the slow-moving rivers and swamps of Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas - the perfect places from which to ambush prey. Many populations of the 13 living species are now endangered and protected, having come under pressure from hunting and habitat loss. It is the larger species, such as the Nile and saltwater crocodiles, that pose a real threat to humans. #PHOTO : John Mullineux / CATERS NEWS AGENCY #BBCSnapshot#photography#crocodile#impala#Kruger#Africa#wildlife#nature#WILDLIFE#NATURE#IMPALA#PHOTOGRAPHY#AFRICA#KRUGER#CROCODILE#bbcsnapshot#alirezaataollahi#علیرضاعطااللهی @alirezaataollahi

Leopards are capable of carrying animals heavier than themselves and will often drag their prey into the fork of a tree several metres off the ground. This tree "lardering" protects the carcass against scavengers and allows a few days of undisturbed feeding.

M A N E A T E R // Due to our close proximity to Mozambique which borders the eastern boundary of the Kruger, our guide said he wouldn't be surprised if this male Transvaal lion was in fact a maneater.
Safe to say it was a little unnerving as he watched me intently in the vehicle, and stared down the barrel of my lens without batting an eyelid..
Day 1 - @singita_ we followed a male #leopard for 2 hours marking his territory and voicing his presence to other leopards. We were amazed to find his family - 3 more leopards (1 mom and 2 cubs). Make sure to scroll through! #africa#southafrica 🇿🇦 #safari#Kruger
#blogvambora
In the wake of Endangered Species Day, please allow me to tell you of the African savannah's song... Now posted on BeyondtheRiverbend.com
