Be creative! That is what 28 Haine Middle School (HMS) students were told when they participated in the 2018 Thermo Fisher Scientific K’NEX STEM Design Challenge.
One team, which includes HMS sixth graders Katie Mack, Sydney Ryczak, Shivani Umeshi and Maelee Ambrass, (pictured above) won for Best Overall Journal.
Students worked in groups of four to help develop a new environmentally friendly product for the home. Each project required students to use one motor, up to 1,400 K’NEX pieces and only two hours to complete their design.
Additionally, students had to keep a journal, inventory their parts, figure out the cost, design blueprints, and give a two-minute presentation on their model and how they answered the challenge.
I am requesting for #knex to make a short double sided connector like I have been #3dprinting for a while. I use these everywhere! 3d printing them has drawbacks as they are extremely fragile and break all the time, it would be awesome if they were an official part! @knex
