Do you know which book Australia sent to Prince George upon his birth?
It was Mem Fox and Helen Oxenbury's Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes! 🖐🖑
Fitting to share this one today, with the birth of his new baby brother yesterday 💙 I wonder if his parents will read it to him too. How could they resist?
It happens to be my all time favourite book to share with little ones. I read that the week before writing this, Mem Fox had phoned her agent and told them she had quit writing. The idea for this book just came to her sitting on a plane a few days later and the rest is history. A tip for writers from Mem is to write from your heart, not from your head 💖
Have you read this book to your baby? More to the point, have you read this to your baby and not cried? 💛 I'm spending this week putting together a list of awesome books for babies. Thank you for all of your suggestions yesterday. Keep #booksandbambinos with more favs.
It's World Penguin Day and we're celebrating by brushing up on our penguin facts with the help of Yuval Zommer's newest title, The Big Book of the Blue! 🐧 Did you know that a penguin has a thick layer of fat all over its body that helps keep it warm? The Big Book of the Blue will be swimming into bookshops on May 10th 🐙🐋🐢🐠🐬🦀

Commitment means that you are willing to keep trying at a particular thing for as long as it takes. When you are committed to something that means nothing can stop you from doing it!
From all our favourites like The Gruffalos and Caterpillars which I already posted on our feed, this one is a favourite from past few weeks , .
As the name states it's a book full of berries ....
My little one enjoys this book and drools over it, with bright and colourful illustrations and rhyming texts this one is full on fun and ofcourse a whole lot of berries , after reading this im sure everyone would crave for some berries..... I'm off to get some berries😁🍓🍇🍇🍓🍒🍓🍓🍇🍒🍒🍇🍇🍇
Swipe to Look at what my little one did after reading this book 😴😴 And taking a nap after reading this book has become a routine from past weeks ,guess he's having sweet dreams of "berries for jamberry"🍇🍓🍒🍇🍓🍒🍇🍓🍇🍒
And this is his favourite reading place apart from the actual reading space 🤣🤣
Special mention is at the end of this book the author speaks of his childhood days , when they used to go searching for berries & would return with a basket full.. and now u don't get to find any except at the market... this brings back memories of our childhood too ....🤗🍇🍓🍒
Leamos! @s.ibarz
‘There’s a Monster in Your Book’ is a new addition to our book collection and we absolutely adore it! Written by Tom Fletcher and illustrated by Greg Abbott, they have created such a simple, fun, interactive yet very sweet book about a monster that’s cheekily stuck in the book and won’t go away! The kids have to wiggle, spin, tickle (one of their favourites!) the monster to get rid of him but then once he’s gone, it’s time to call him back to keep him out of the room! This is one of those books that manages to be such fun but also is a great one for bedtime because it ends with a lovely quiet moment putting the monster to bed. Seeing the kids stroke the monster’s head to say night, night at the end is the sweetest ever! You always know it’s a good one when they want it on repeat, it’s chosen for car journeys and when you hear them talking about the ‘lovely monster’ who they want to play with! @tomfletcher ... safe to say our kids are hooked!! Looking forward to meeting the dragon next! (His new book being launched in May ... I see a great series of books coming from this!!) #thefamilyeditbooks#reading#kidsbooks#picturebooks#picturebook#love#recommended#newfavouriteplace#kids#kidstagram#kidlife#toddlers#toddlerlife#mom#mum#mammy#mommy#irishmom#momlife#mumlife#mommylife#readingnook @penguinukbooks @penguinkids @easonsie @waterstones

And we’re back!
Happy day!
Yesterday I shared some ANZAC themed books that were more suited to older children. These 4 are ones that I feel are better suited to younger children. It is a very difficult part of our history for young children to comprehend and it is a hard to have all the answers when the questions are asked.
This year I did start to read “A Day to Remember” by Jackie French to Hunter. As we were reading and looking at the pictures, he pointed to a scene of silhouetted soldiers on the battlefield and asked me which one of them was the Green Arrow? He was looking for a fictional hero (among real life ones) who would stop the fighting. I tried to explain it to him the best I could, without worrying him but also without lying to him. It was tough and the look on his face made it harder.
So we will stick with these books for now. The first one “Lest We Forget” by Kerry Brown is my go to. It looks at the situations and feelings that soldiers were faced with, alongside everyday comparisons (even though the comparison will never be the same) in the life of a child. It also expresses the importance of stopping and remembering on the 25th April. 🌿 ANZAC Ted by Belinda Landsberry is a rhyming story about a bear who even though today is looking rather worse for wear, has travelled and accompanied a soldier during his time at war.
🌿 Meet the ANZACS by Clare Saxby and Matt Berry - this one focuses on the time leading up to the landing at Gallipoli, the training, the waiting and the anticipation. 🌿 The Last ANZAC by Gordon Winch and Harriet Bailey - based on the true story of a young boy who travels to Tasmania to meet Australia’s Last ANZAC.
Calling all mini feminists (and their parents). This week’s #LWLbookclub choice is a playfully illustrated children’s book all about gender equality by launching lady, @theachopsbooks. Outdated stories that paint girls as princesses and boys as their prince charming just aren’t relevant or helpful in a world where we’re trying to fight #everydaysexism . Words are powerful, and this charming story distills the message of parity for little ones, making it fun, accessible and inspiring.
The loveable main character, Flo, is a sporty girl who can’t believe her classmate Frank’s silly assumption that girls can’t throw. To prove her classmates wrong and smash the age-old stereotype that girls are rubbish at sports, Flo challenges him to a ball toss and race. The delightful twist is that Flo doesn’t win outright. It’s a draw. They’re equal. She exclaims “I’m a girl, you’re a boy and we’re both winners.” And Frank? Let’s just say he definitely ends up an honorary member of the sisterhood.
The best children’s books aren’t just about clever rhyming or colourful illustrations - both of which She’s Not Good for a Girl, She’s Just Good has in abundance - they have a purpose, a genuine value that’s woven into every page. As a younger years text, the story does a brilliant job at empowering girls to stand up for themselves and take pride in their interests, whatever they may be. It teaches boys that feminism is their concern too, and equality is something that we can all achieve together. The book will certainly make an impression on even the littlest of listeners, and is guaranteed to leave you with a serious case of the warm and fuzzies.
Have you read She’s Not Good for a Girl, She’s Just Good by Suze Hemming? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

BOOK REVIEW 11
TITLE: TREASURE HUNT FOR GIRLS
PUBLISHER: Priddy Books
This is a board book which has theme based twin pages; a total of 22 such pages. The dual pages have a set of illustrations concomitant to the theme. There are ten hidden objects throughout the theme and one has to find it.
For instance: there is a princess party page which has horse carriages, princesses, brave knights and other details. one is expected to find the following; 1 handsome knight 2 happy horses 3 pretty princesses 4 tiny puppies 5 party invitations 6 white doves 7 stylish suitcases etc.
It is a fun book with simple illustrations done in a colour blocking style. Each theme features busy colourful scenes packed with images. It is simple for a toddler to figure but may be too easy for older children. There are several other objects to seek and find besides what the book has instructed. It is bright, interactive and certainly engaging even now for my seven year old.
I can guarantee a whole lot of fun finding the objects, and another offshoot of this is that some basic skills in sorting and counting too would be imparted to the kids. It includes themes with pages like animal hospital, wizard, fairy, kitchen, farm, beach etc.
There is another version for boys just in case the girls one is not relevant for you.
I got this book from Landmark Stores.
Studio Tamara certified. Happy treasure hunting.

The Empty Pot - by Demi. We love the simplicity of Chinese folk tales ! This story set in China is about a flora loving Emperor who is on a mission to find his successor. He devises a contest and hands over seeds to all the children in the kingdom to see who can grow the best plant ( except the seeds were cooked and could not grow!) all the children of the kingdom return on the stipulated date and time with beautiful plants except one named ‘Ping’ who has the courage to bring an empty pot before the Emperor, making him the heir to the kingdom! This book demonstrates the rewards of honest efforts even though the results are less than expected, the copy is simple and provides children an opportunity to identify wrong from right. What is even special about this book is that despite being set in China, there is absolutely no stereotyping of any sort ! The illustrations are like art themselves, it’s a simple story with all heart!
