Guys, I have actually managed to stay on track for the last couple of days. I was looking back at all of my entries on happy scale and realized that I’ve basically been maintaining since January. I haven’t lost anything substantial. This is frustrating but it is what it is and I can only move forward. I have had a bit of an epiphany though. I think what’s been missing is that I haven’t been having enough fat. In the beginning when I was doing so well, I really made sure I was getting enough fat and felt satiated. But I think in the last few months I’ve unintentionally been doing more low-carb than Keto which has meant that I’ve been hungrier and that’s led to little cheats here and there. I think if I make an effort to truly get enough fat, I will start to see the scale move again. Anyway, moving on! I got my hands on this and the mango version this morning which I’ve been wanting to try. I really like this! I forgot to share our Week 3 update on Monday..this last week we bought a fancy new scale since ours was a decade old and on its last legs. It was only working half the time, even with new batteries. So, the new scale showed us both up 2lbs, which is most likely a calibration issue and the difference between the two scales. We’ve both been diligent and had no cheats. So we’ll see where we’re at next Monday with the new scale. Since I hit 2k friends a few days ago I figured I’d introduce myself. It’s been awhile. . .
I’m Kallie. I live in southern Manitoba in 🇨🇦
My health has been a constant of yo yo diets, crash diets, getting obsessive with exercise to emotional eating my weight all the way back up to 200lbs. .
January of this year I started reading about keto. I started my intermittent fasting 16:8 and cutting down carbs. Than I did more and more research and figured out my target macros. I tracked for the first few months and I’ve been doing “lazy keto” since which for me is just that I don’t count macros ALL the time. I generally eat the same foods as I like them, I keep it simple as I suck at following recipes! I just bought my first house half a year ago with the love of my life and I keep busy making that house a home, working as a coordinator in the home of 3 adult siblings with different abilities and I have a pup whom I adore heaps!
So far through keto I’ve lost approx 31 lbs in almost 5 months! Im incredibly happy with my body right now but will aim to eventually lose the last 10lbs whenever they come off, through trusting the process! Food for the day! Asian Beef and Broccoli and my attempt at a Burger Salad which has green leaf lettuce, red onion, pickle slices, cheddar cheesy ground beef topped with more cheese and dressing! Not pictured is a soup an coffee I had this morning.
Starting a cut. Dialing in on my numbers (calories down, protein up to max allowed, <20 carbs, fill in the rest of cal w/ fat) and aiming to eat 1 serving of veggies with every single meal for the next couple weeks.
A common misconception about macros is that your dietary fat has to be at 70-80% while cutting on keto! If you’re already fat adapted , some of that 70-80% fat can come from your BODY fat so your dietary intake might decrease to 50-60%.
