Another lately watched movie☺ Julia Roberts acting as a great mother in "Wonder", its not only a touching movie but it encourages the viewers to look multidimensionally to the anything in a world of infinite possibilities which is much much more deep and complex than our subjective evaluations and judgements...👌 #wonder#juliaroberts
Mystic Pizza is classic 80s fun with some mild frustrations thrown in. Including the always obnoxious emphasis on the importance of a woman finding a man. But Lili Taylor playing a woman who’d rather have good sex over a husband did make me laugh. Also....I really want pizza now. (39/100)
Secret in their Eyes: I decided to watch this forgotten 2015 thriller because of two things; Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed, as I feel like this film was...unnecessary? Like it wasted such a great cast on a silly premise of the obsession over Julia Roberts’ daughter’s death. The way it’s directed also makes it seem like an episode of Law and Order, as if no energy or time was put into the cinematography.
It confusingly and randomly jumps back and forward in time, which made the movie infuriating to watch because the characters always looked exactly the same. The only time clue was Dean Norris’ limp. It was fun to see Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts on screen, but their abilities were squandered in a silly film. As soon as this started I knew there was a twist, and I begrudgingly have to admit the twist was clever and surprising.
My general thought after seeing this was, oh my god these irresponsible people should not be cops. Secret in Their Eyes isn’t aware enough of its silly premise to be thoroughly entertaining, so I wouldn’t recommend this film to anyone. I also discovered that this is a remake of a better Argentinian film, so I wish Americans could’ve left left the interesting premise alone instead of distorting it into a silly thriller.
