📷 After more or less a week of nothing happening indoors as I was on night shifts (plenty going on outside though), we had our joiner back in today finishing the hallway, our limestone hearth was inserted and this gorgeous painting from @houseofbrissi arrived. Walls need another coat of paint and then I’ll hang this beauty, think it brings together all the colours we have used in our open space.
Here's Friday again, yay! A million thanks for rolling around so fast. Lots of excitement at Fox Hollow, @houseandhomemagazine new issue is out today with the homes of three of the best, @livingandbeauty @aproudhome and @ciaraelliott. Well done Barbara, Joanne and Ciara I'm looking forward to getting my copy. Plus the @ukinteriorawards voting opens today, yours truly is in the Best Budget Interiors category, you all know how much I love a bargain. If you want to vote for me that's super, but just go have a look at some of the homes, they are stunning! You most definitely WILL NOT be disappointed. You most definitely WILL be envious!
After much sweat and tears the hall table is finally finished and I picked up a few bits n bobs yesterday, including these pink candles and candle holders in Sostrene Greene. I also bought a big round mirror in Woodies, hopefully I'll get that up later to properly finish it off. We have a tiny hall so it took me a while to find the right table to go here that wouldn't get in the way at the bottom of the stairs. This is perfect and hides all the kids shoes too! #myhome#interiordesign#interiors#irishhome#hallway#ikea#house#hall#diy#sostrenegrene#interior#hall#decor
So much amazing architecture to use as inspo 💗 so many talented people and beautiful houses, so many of them Irish 🇮🇪 some of the creators of these beautiful buildings: Niall McLaughlin architects, HLM architects, Leagaun House by Ryan W Kennihen, Stephen Tierney Architects, Hebridean Homes, House7Architects. Can't even 💗🙈
Pishoguerie has always been a great thing in our house; that general idea that counting your chickens 🐔 before they hatch 🍳 is a very dangerous thing and that assuming success 🎉ahead of time is only leading to misfortune 😢 Considering we're waiting on planning for the second time after being refused once already ✋, had been planning to wait to start posting but at this stage patience is gone and if I don't find someone else to talk "house" to, the OH is going to up and quit! 🙊 so I'm about three weeks early but if ye don't tell the mammy neither will I!!!!
This morning I'm hoping to do a bit of DIY...(Mainly to take my mind off the nasty woman that I met yesterday).... And I was waiting at the front door for my husband to help me move some wood. I looked up at the sparrows, who have taken over a House Martins nest, and I remembered why we did all of this.... Our aim was to conserve the house for another couple of hundred years... So we used lime plaster, cast iron guttering, wooden sash windows, tooled stone sills, natural slate, oak lintels... No concrete... No gypsum....no waterproofing.
I know every inch of this house.
We did add two modern extensions... And they are built using the best modern materials... And that's cool! That's how it should be.
And to the people who said "knock it".... You were wrong.... and I was right! I'm glad I didn't listen to you.
📷 Home 😍 we had a lovely day out, but it’s so lovely to come back here (even if we did go half way to the old house by mistake). I’m currently sat on the floor in my wardrobe on a pile of clothes, not knowing where to start! Tradesmen are back tomorrow so need to keep away for a few hours! #ihavethisthingwithnavy#itmaybeaproblem#thenavydoor ##
