#flashbackfriday No filter needed in Tulum, Mexico last September, 2017. Loved practicing yoga there, watching the sunrise over the ocean, walks to the busy part of the strip near the beach where little B&B's, fish tacos, steack houses and juice huts fold together under the balmy jungle weather next to the white beaches.
There is something magical about Tulum.
You can feel it in the air, the way the seabreeze sends tingles across your skin.
You can feel it the colors of teal blue dreams, offerint you peace, love and enchantment next to the Caribbean Sea under a hut next the Sea.

Reflecting upon the incredible few days we spent ‘working hard’ in paradise with this amazing group. I’m so grateful for the beautiful souls we’ve met during our yoga journey. Though we all come from different professional backgrounds and experiences, we share the bound of continuously challenging ourselves beyond self-perceived boundaries to test the limits of what our minds and bodies are capable of achieving. videos and mirrors have really helped me see how i'm progressing. i haven't had an as exciting practice like the other day (my previous post) where i popped up and straightened my legs.

but at least i'm getting up more consistently.

Headstand variation. When going upside down proprioception is challenged. When practicing, a slight change of environment will bring new challenges. Just as we think we master a pose, it reminds us as yogis that yoga is something we have to work on constantly. I personally find that's the beauty of yoga, it keeps us working on ourselves, reminding our ego to remain humble.

Lorsqu'on est à l'envers, notre proprioception est défié. Lorsqu'on pratique, le moindre changement d'environnement peut nous confronter à de nouveaux défis. Comme on pense que l'on maîtrise une posture, on se rend compte que l'on doit constamment y travailler. C'est une des choses que j'aime du yoga. Il nous rappelle que l'on doit travailler sur soi continuellement et nous garde dans l'humilité.

A little bit of #pinchaplay at 1 AM anybody? 😅

I practice yoga as part of my night routine and the other night, I did a 45 min deep stretch practice and it felt SO good ❤ It somehow gave me energy and I wanted to check in with my #forearmstand 🙃 It helped that it was so late because I controlled my hops better so I wouldn't disturb the neighbours living under me.

If you remember from my last post about forearm stand, you know that I said I would work on my weaker side more often (right leg) which is what I did that night. So the first vid is pretty much a few snippets of me trying to figure things out on the right leg, trying to adjust myself and just getting it used to going up like a normal non epileptic leg 😂

The other vid is my stronger leg and a miracle happened! 😍 I knew with that leg what tends to happen is that I find the wall much easier and hit it brusquely. So I moved further back, just enough so I still feel like I can touch it somewhat if I needed it. I got a mini hold in L (I think) and a 3 second hold in an almost pincha!! But the real shocker is that my body realized what was happening for the first time. The other times it was just trying to get up. But I felt like now my body parts "get it", like they understand better what to do if that makes sense. That or having lost 10 lbs just makes it easier for them to react 😂 #friyay#upsidedown#inversionpractice#pinchamayurasana

Started writing and shit got deep.
Five years ago I was busy preparing for the CrossFit Canada East Regional. It was by far the most physically, mentally and emotionally demanding test I have ever undergone.
It was the culmination of four years of blood, sweat and tears. Everyday, a part of me wanting to quit. Not believing. Naysaying. And everyday the opposite part of me pushing me to try. Forcing me to work. Striving to believe. Every damn day, the same struggle for four years.
It was not a fun time in my life. It was a battle everyday. It was going head to head with my demons everyday. It was emotional turmoil. It was physical, emotional and mental abuse wrapped up in a moment that is applauded and worshipped by everyone from the outside.
When it was over, I thought, that was it? Four years for that? The high of the achievement did not outweigh the pain of the journey.
I learned the hard way the importance of enjoying the process. And even in that moment I didn't totally understand it. It actually took another five years of inner work to truly understand how to enjoy the process. Today I understand. Nine years later I understand.
Proud of myself for that insight moreso than I ever could be for an achievement. 🙏

I have a weekend filled with working at the farm, gardening and getting the hives ready for the honey bees 👩🌾🐝 + working and teaching at the studio 🧘♀️🙏 and I couldn’t be happier. Never thought I’d ever look forward to working but that’s what happens when you go after and seek what YOU want to do.
