Contamination is a fun 80s alien flick. Some pretty badass bits of exploding people and a rat certainly don't hurt the charm of this movie. While at times it seems to drag overall it's not bad. Grab some friends or some popcorn and check it out on shudder. I will warn you the alien creature at the end looks dumb but is pretty savage for the movies standard.

Aight whose man is dis? Forreal wtf? IMDB trivia says this is the only foray into narrative filmmaking by a porn director and I guess that explains everything... but it also doesn't.
How the fuck did so many actually good actors end up in this? Clint Howard is the lead which should already temper your expectations but in supporting roles are David Naughton, Olivia Hussay, and David Warner. What kinda cursed deal did this director finesse to land this talent?
But that doesn't really change much cuz the acting is still bad including the actually talented actors who chew the scenery so much they loop right back into the ridiculous.
This feels so quintessentially 90's. I'm not convinced this isn't just a Canadian made for tv movie.
But goddamn if it isn't fun. It's all over the place in all the right ways. If you're not going to be good you might as well be batshit. This film makes me not want to eat ice cream and EVERYONE FUCKING LOVES ICE CREAM. It's loaded with bugs, eyeballs, body parts, and blood and it's wickedly fun and silly. One of those weird slasher films that came out way too late and ends up feeling more like a parody of slashers, it embraces the silliness.
Also the main kid is wearing a fucking pillow under his shirt to make him look fat. No make-up or anything else. Just a pillow. Like everyone else who is a massive fan of the Evil Dead franchise I'm seriously upset that Bruce has retired as Ash once this season of Ash vs Evil Dead is over. Even though it's the end of an era it's also the start of a new one for Bruce and everyone involved with the Evil Dead series. Like Bruce himself said Ash is never dead, he's a concept, when there's evil, there's Ash and there's a bit of him in us all. Love ya Bruce, thanks for everything!

Blair Witch (2016) ⭐️ Ok, so, I’m obligated to mention here that I hated The Blair Witch Project and everything it stands for. I don’t feel it needed another sequel, it’s didn’t need to be remade, revisited or even revered. Why? Because it sucks. It was a terrible movie with terrible writing and a great premise. It was a monumental waste of a good story. What was made here with Blair Witch is just an extension of that sad waste of a good idea. Another great premise, abused to the point of making it utterly irrelevant. I think Adam Wingard purposely tried to make the worst movie possible as a giant middle finger to any and everyone who dared criticize the original BWP. Why do I think that? Because this was nothing more than 80 minutes of jump scares, even to the point of adding a line of dialog addressing how fucking irritating that is, shaky camera footage that makes people nauseated, and the loudest, most obnoxious sound track imaginable. After “You’re Next” and “VHS”, this is what he chose to unleash on the world. The worst parts of the found footage genre. Well, allow me to extend my middle finger right back with a 1 star rating.
