When I went to Hawai’i to spread Nana’s ashes and take her home I went whale watching. I didn’t see anything and then an ENORMOUS ray came up under our boat and led us to a huge family of humpback whales. Today was perfect, and fun, and such high vibe, and he even got me once for those of you wondering about pain. Under the butt cheek - I jumped LOL. Heel wat mensen die intensief aan sport doen (tennis, basketbal, volleybal,...) lopen vaak blessures op aan de adductoren. Om dit te voorkomen raad ik aan om deze oefening zeker te implementeren in je workout sessie 💪

Did you know that your quadriceps muscle has 4 different parts? 🤭🤯 Thus the “quad” in quadriceps 💁🏼‍♀️ You would think that they all contract at the same intensity, but studies have shown that your inner quad doesn’t contract as it should in something called patello-femoral syndrome (PFS). PFS causes pain at various spots in your knee, often around the patella (that floating bone in the front of your knee). This is because when you bend and unbend your knee, different forces (muscles and fascia) are acting to make sure that your patella glides properly. 
There are many reasons your patellar tracking (movement of your patella) can be altered. Your patella can then tilt in different ways and create painful pressure points at your knee.

The exercise that I’m doing helps your inner quad contract.

1️⃣ Take a ball, a pillow, or a towel and put it in between your feet (you can also put it in the middle of your thighs)
2️⃣ Squeeze the object with your feet or thighs and keep squeezing while you unbend and bend your knees
3️⃣ Relax and repeat 🔄

I usually tell people to do 3 x 8-12 repetitions 2-4 times a day. 
This isn’t a strength exercise, but a muscle activation one, so the more you do it the better 🔔 This is not the only exercise involved in treating PFS, but it is essential. Foam rolling the IT band is part of it as well, as are other exercises depending on the root of the PFS.
