These past 3 days have R O C K E D! 🤣🤓
6th Grade has been learning about the rock cycle and what better way to learn about the 3 types of rocks than with food!? .
🌋 Igneous Rock 🌋 - formed from the heating and cooling of lava. We heated jolly ranchers and when they cooled we made them into yummy suckers....(without the sticks bc I of course forgot them)🍭 .
🏜 Sedimentary Rock 🏜 - formed after sediments are deposited, compacted and cemented together. We compacted and cemented starbursts and also discussed the layers where fossils can sometimes be found!
⛰ Metamorphic Rock ⛰ - formed through extreme heat and pressure! We made s’mores - and they were so good y’all! If you’ve never made s’mores in the oven before I highly recommend it. They’re delicious. The s’mores coming out of the oven represented the heat and when we put the top gram cracker on and pushed it down that was the pressure. 😋
We’ll be starting our “Life As a Sediment” comic strips soon and I can’t wait to see what they come up with! 😁
Also, shout out to @samdorsett6 she was so much help today!! The kids and I both love her! She is going to be an amazing teacher! .
