After 4 years of international abstinence we are going on holiday abroad ✈
Somewhat rushed and somewhat out of the blue we've just gone for it. The last time we went abroad was when Flo was 9 months old. We lasted 3 days before we had to come home because she got a bug and all the food was milk and egg riddled. Cost more to book the flights home than the whole holiday and she ended up in hospital when we got home. So not the greatest experience. Because of this and her allergies we've stayed here. We just didn't feel comfortable.
But after much soul searching and knowing we all need a bloody break and a few days off we've decided to give it a crack.
I'm not going to lie I cannot wait to get the old Speedos on and tan this #dadbod#sunshinehereicome#speedohero#holidaytime#familyholiday

They’ll push it to the edge at every opportunity, so you better know how you want to be treated before you get there. It always blows my mind when we allow them to treat us in ways that we would never accept from anyone else. I mean, obviously they are children, but we are growing our best friends here, and little people and their bad habits are only getting bigger.
A large part of being a good parent I think, is having the self-respect to demand high standards of how you want to be treated, modelling personal self-care.
Taking the long view and seeing how little things can enslave both of you, makes for respectful, even-tempered parents and kids. Every engagement doesn’t need to be a battle!
Here are my top ‘He’s Not A Bad Cop He Just Has A Healthy Sense Of Self Respect’ bottom lines:
-Once they can do something themselves, don’t do it for them again, especially if you have a handful. (Obvs with wiggle room, I’m not a monster.)
-Don’t answer the same question more than once. They have your answer, they just don’t like it. “I’ve already answered that question.”
-Don’t be ignored. If they miss an opportunity to do something on their terms because they have tuned you out and they know you’ll just keep asking, hit ‘em with, “Alright, I’ll choose. You’re wearing these. Maybe you’ll make a better choice next time.”
-“Would you like to try that again?” when you don’t get that please first time.
-When they hit you with that heavy sass, “I don’t let anyone treat me this way, and that includes you.” These tiny people are and will be our closest peeps, if we can’t teach them how to respect and be respected, then that’s our fault. There are no horrible kids, just kids that haven’t had the opportunity to give and take respect and humility.
What do you think? AM I a monster? I'll be the first to admit that I’m learning on the job. What are your go-tos for those convos that we have a hundred times a day?
From 11:30pm until 5:00am I slept uninterrupted. Neither Florence nor Edith woke up during that time. It was wonderful and would, I imagine, have lasted longer if @mother_freckle had not woke up in a sheer panic thinking something was wrong and shook me awake to check on the kids.
Not entirely sure why she needed to wake me up but she did and that's that. But I felt amazing for having had a blissful 5:30hours solid sleep.
I got up at 5, I cleaned the kitchen, did the dishwasher, made dinners, walked the dog then went to the gym. I was well and truly winning at life.
Then I spilt coffee on my top and it made me irrationally upset. I just can't handle stains on clothes. I feel they are ruined for ever, especially if it's a nice top and the stain stays forever. That top then gets demoted from nice outside top to lounge around the house top or if it's lucky maybe becomes a gym top if the stain ain't to bad and the top is nipple friendly.
So thats where i am at today. Happy Wednesday.

Actually on second thoughts, please don’t forget them. I’m tired. And it’s really frustrating if you do your own thing all the time. They’re not really even rules, more just common sense and courtesy to your wonderful father (if I say so myself). So I guess, forget the rules, as long as it is fun and considerate to others and obviously not dangerous and most importantly, don’t forget them if they are my rules. Simple. 👍
I'm reaching out to the rice cake industry! I read somewhere that you can get toxic poisoning from eating too many rice cakes...thinking about it, might explain the glow from Isla at night time 🤔 Oh well, keeps them quiet so I'll take the risk 😋🍲🍛 👽 #ricecake#ricecakeaddict
Hi! I'm Alex and I am the owner of Daisy and Flynn. The business is small (but mighty!) at the moment so if you're interacting with Daisy and Flynn, you'll be interacting with me!
So who am I? Well, I am a twenty-nine-year-old business geek who is obsessed with babies! I am a sister of three sisters and one brother, an auntie to five nieces and one nephew AND the 'fun police' to my partner's two children.
I am a dog lover, through and through. I have a three-year-old cockapoo called Chewbacca, who I just adore and who is an extension of me, I am addicted to audiobooks (it's the only chance I get!) and I love to wrap myself in a blanket.
I am a huge introvert but I do love getting to know people. I weirdly remember specific things about people but I like to go far and beyond nurturing relationships with others.
I am a massive control freak and I love a good list and or planner. I hate being late and I even go as far as telling my partner and the kids the wrong time that we need to be somewhere so that we are always on time!
I am really family orientated and I just love my huge, weird family to bits! They are the reason behind Daisy and Flynn... more about that tomorrow!
So this is me in a nutshell, slightly bonkers but slightly awesome at the same time.
How about you? Comment and let me get to know you!
P.s we’re launching in 15 days!!
