A little #throwbackthursday to me looking less than impressed with The Colosseum in Rome 😬 To be honest, it wasn’t the ancient piece of architecture that had me frowning, it was the overbearing summer heat wave that threw me off. In fact, Rome was really the one place Noah and I went during our 7 week backpacking adventure in Europe where our relationship was truly tested. The heat wave aside, we were hitting the mid-mark of our trip and were both a tad bit extra irritable those 3 days (I know, 3 days doesn’t sound like much, but with the never-ending heat it felt like a week). Our Rome trip culminated with us missing our train to the airport, which was truly the cherry on top of a stressful few days 🤦🏼♀️ After having it out in the train station, we (strangely enough), felt a little bit better. We were able to move on to our next destination, leaving behind any hard feelings with the heat in Rome. .
Point being, not every photo on Instagram is a perfect representation of what’s going on behind the camera. I didn’t post this one - the only one of me where I’m obviously in front of The FREAKING Colosseum - for a long time because I am clearly frowning. But ya know what? I love it. Because it represents the parts of travel that are often overlooked on social media, and I can now look back and truly LAUGH about it. 📸: @anistey
Quite a lot of ice cream was eaten on my trip to Italy - clockwise from top right: tiramisu, chocolate, pistachio, blackberry & lavender, white chocolate with hazelnuts & biscotto della nonna (basically Italian cookies and cream), black cherry, dulce de leche
