We love @torafukuyvr. My boyfriend and I said we wouldn’t go back to restaurants after the first time until we’ve tried all we’ve tried but Torafuku was just calling our name. Their cocktails are always so bomb and the food is very very flavourful.
1️⃣ General Tao’s Fried Chicken Wings - sweet soy sauce and some definite crisp 👌🏼
2️⃣ Magic Mushrooms - I fucking love mushrooms and these were so good. Maitake and king oyster with rice cakes, ricotta and that brown butter and yuzu tamarind sauce. The ricotta made them creamy and I just love this dish so much.
3️⃣ Finding Dory - sour and spicy (mild mild spice) broth with fried ling cod and king oyster mushrooms. I thought there wasn’t enough broth but there was. Perfectly cooked fish to boot.
4️⃣ The Steak Out - unagi glazed wagyu beef with bonito flakes pickled veg, pickled veg and potato medallion with spicy puffs. The bonito flakes on that meat 😭
Hot and sour squid - always a good, refreshing start to a south or southeast Asian dinner. A recipe from @ricksteinofficial in #fishandseafood . Squid from @shellseekers98. The second photo shows something new on me: I am sure fishermen/women see this all the time and I am used to odd bits of seafood in a squid when prepping it, but this one had a whole squid-sized red mullet inside. #starter#squid#hotandsour#hotandsoursquid#rickstein#seafood
Hot & sour soup dumplings from @baoziinn_newportct. Lurking low in this cilantro-dense, almost sickeningly sour rich #Sichuan chilli oil ‘drink me’. The pork plumped, thick-wrap soft chewy predators were very tasty... but had it not been for the side celery slapped in cold peanut soothing sesame don’t know if we’d have whole-bowl made it (!)
Thai style rhubarb hot and sour soup, glass noodles, mint. Makes sense and it's pretty too! Inspired by my recent trip to Thailand! 👇
All part of my new menu development for upcoming @dynastyldn residencies and pop ups.
