- Today was a big day with lots of lessons learned , lots of knowledge gained . My fiancé finally got to meet Nevada that was a big deal because without her , I wouldn't of been able to rescue this mare . Though it may of cost a first time horse owner like me a literal arm and leg , Nevada is now fully vaccinated , wormed , teeth floated , hooks removed , and has the go ahead despite being slightly underweight for light riding . She will need to be on a pretty substantial feed program for a few months at least , but now that her teeth are fixed she will be able to eat pain free ! Nevada had to be heavily sedated for her dental work but she handled it quite nicely , I mean ... she is a mare after all ;) . Her age was confirmed at about 15 years old , her lordosis doesn't affect her back strength at all which is great news ! The only issue we're having is rapid breathing with no real known cause .. vet will be keeping an eye on it ! The most amazing part of it all ! The vet let me help with everything , from the sedation to the teeth floating I learned it all today ! So blessed to have such a fantastic vet who's willing to make everything cost efficient and as non emotional for me as possible . After loosing dragon I couldn't imagine loosing Nevy , so here's to hoping her lungs get sorted out ! As for now she's in the clear . A little TLC and this mare will be under saddle in no time 🖤🏆💖. #horses#horse#horsesofinstagram#mare#paint#quarterhorse#rescue#underweight#teeth#teethcleaning#teethfloating#vet#vetrinarian#visit#healing#journey#essentialoils#youngliving#equestrian#dreamcometrue
Learning more about therapy, nervous systems, and horses (and me) during a three day “Accessing Equanimity” training. :) Grateful to these silly ponies for being such good co-instructors. They may not be able to articulate how the limbic system works or how our thoughts and emotions affect the electromagnetic field of the heart, but they understand how to manage and regulate them better than most. So fascinating to learn more about how our brains work and how horses influence and affect our nervous systems.
