I started a blog 8 years ago to share raw & vegan recipes, share my optimal wellness journey & educate others on using food as medicine. I spent countless hours pouring into it, taking photographs for it, and trying to create the most amazing resource possible. I prayed somehow i could monetize it and that it would eventually become an entry into my next big success & a way to ‘work’ while traveling the globe. Thing is, few people saw it & no one knew the hours I agonized over it. Some days I'd even look at Andy and say, 'Why am I even doing this? No one cares. No one sees it.' #Hydration is so important to daily health (organ function/ natural detox), weight loss, beauty/ anti aging, and sports performance. Like many I struggle some days go hit my water goal (4 litres per day) so I look to other ways to help me. The best way other than drinking water is to eat your water. There are plenty of foods that help just do that. Here are some examples but there are many more out there! 💦

🌷As a teen I suffered badly with acne & then later I was diagnosed with the autoimmune Graves' Disease - I was forced to have my thyroid destroyed as the doctors said there was no hope for me. (ENG/ITA) Today homemade nachos for dinner. Coconut Nachos PALEO + VEGAN + KETO + NUT FREE. Very fast to do, delicious to eat but really easy to finish in a moment. Delicious, light and crispy. I love nachos, dipped in tahin, guacamole, jalapeno sauce and harissa. They are a great comfort food healthy and ideal to prepare as a snack when you have guests for dinner. Good dinner guys.

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you look at this cookie?
Maybe you think of how yummy it will be. How chocolate chip is your favorite. Maybe it’s that you just realized your hungry. Maybe you realize it’s been awhile since you’ve had a cookie. ..
Now I want to to take a look at the second thought you had after.
Maybe it’s that the cookie looks delicious to you but you should probably just have veggies & dip instead. Maybe it’s feeling of shame & guilt over wanting it because your trying to “loose weight”. Maybe it’s complete resistance and friction towards the cookie because it’s “not on your diet” guidelines.
Here is the thing....life is all about balance and being happy. So often we get so caught up in the should and shouldn’t “rules” of life, diets and “living healthy”. We get so intertwined in these rules that soon we are doing things just because they are on the “to-do” list or eating things just because someone told us that’s what will make us healthier.
BUT what if I told you that isn’t healthy. What if I told you that following “the rules” (btw I HATE rules) is one of the most unhealthy thing you can do. Ya sure there are times that we need to be more conscious of how eating/lack of movement might be affecting our physical health. BUT if these are things that we are forcing into our lives we start to live from a place of restriction, lack, stress, detachment and unhappiness WHICH is ACTUALLY way more UNHEALTHY!
So how do you live a healthy life while not following any of “the rules”.....well it’s actually simpler than it sounds. You do things and eat things that make you feel joy & happiness. When you see a cookie, piece of fruit, salad, steak, smoothie....or ANYTHING notice how you feel initially when you look at it. Does it make you feel a sense of happiness, joy, calm, or an internal gut feeling of YES right away. Well then follow that feeling and only pay attention to that feeling. That right there is an internal happiness signal. If you continue to follow that signal in your life, and truly follow it, you will live a life where you can find it even in the darkest of times.

There’s nothing sweeter than a newborn baby 👶🏻 cooing, blinking at you, and trusting you. The overwhelming love 💗 that pours forth is the most amazing gift we receive. 💙💙💙 When I see this, I’m reminded that my journey into motherhood wasn’t this beautiful. It was wrought with tears 😭, insomnia, depression, and guilt. Postpartum depression became the theme that stole the joy for the first few months of the time I was supposed to be bonding. And an antidepressant and sleeping pill saved both of our lives. I’m forever thankful that I had those modern medicines in my time of emergency 🚨. BUT GOD, the great Redeemer, restored what I thought was lost and broken. I didn’t understand that what happens in my brain is directly connected to what’s going on in my gut.
The Lord gave me this gift of love 💕 , joy and peace, free from anxiety, with the birth of Shiloh. And I understood what those overwhelming feelings of love and trust felt like, almost like a new Mom all over again. 👏🏻 He is GOOD. 🙌🏻 And He has equipped me with knowledge and amazing tools to help bring hope to people who are looking for it.

Blackberry, Chia + Lemon Thyme... that’s my jam 👏🏼🍋🌿
• 3 pints @driscollsberry Season’s Finest blackberries (you can use any kind but these are the BEST- extra sweet and really plump)
• ~2 tbsp fresh lemon thyme
• 1/4 cup chia seeds
• Optional: 2 scoops @vitalproteins collagen peptides
• Simmer whole blackberries with a few teaspoons of water and lemon thyme in a saucepan, covered
• Once the mixture becomes liquidy and the berries have broken down (about 20 minutes in), remove lid and smash the remaining berries.
• Turn off heat and add the chia seeds. Allow for them to absorb the remaining liquid and that’s it!
Using chia seeds in jams not only adds protein and healthy fats, but it also allows it to thicken without adding extra sugar!
Pairs well with French toast and just about anything else😋

I wrapped up my final long run before the marathon this morning, and came home to this bowl of goodness 🌱
I honestly feel like I am SO much more nervous for this race than the average human is for their first marathon 🙈I’m generally a total over thinker and get anxious pretty easily, but I’ve set pretty high expectations for myself and just hope I can live up to them 🤞🏻
I definitely need to focus on some mental exercises this week as my physical ones will be kept pretty low, but I need to try to keep my nerves to a minimum 😬
But don’t get me wrong, I’m still very excited and so ready to tackle this challenge 💪🏻

They call it “Goat Yoga” but you could also call it “Laughter Therapy”! Kristy had the opportunity to live her best life, laughing the hardest she possibly ever has, with these adorable baby goats at @sugarsweetfarm.
Laughter is SO healthy for the mind, body, and soul. If you haven’t had a good belly laugh lately, we highly recommend trying goat yoga or some other hilarious activity to get those endorphins flowing- not to mention the ab and smile muscles workout!! 😆🐐

A gut soothing juice of Papaya and Aloe to start the morning. ✌🏽Just cut some papaya, aloe pulp, cold water and honey (if ya need a little more sweetness.), toss it all in a blender, blend it up and enjoy! .
Papaya is great for digestion because it has enzymes that help ya break down foods and keep things regular. I used to only eat it when I had constipation issues, but it’s been helpful even when my IBD symptoms come back around and have the opposite problem 💩Aloe you’ve probably heard is great for burns. Which it is!! But what it does to your skin is also what it does inside- healing your gut lining. And it’s practically tasteless, so you can add it to almost anything!
Here is a good one to try this weekend. The Healthstyle Emporium has so many healthy recipes for all occasions and all tastes. I just love lentils, they are so nourishing especially when combined with warming spices and dark leafy greens.
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
1 medium yellow or white onion, chopped
2 carrots, peeled and chopped
4 garlic cloves, pressed or minced
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon curry powder
½ teaspoon dried thyme
1 large can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
1 cup brown or green lentils, picked over and rinsed
4 cups vegetable broth
2 cups water
1 teaspoon salt, more to taste
Pinch red pepper flakes
Freshly ground black pepper
1 cup chopped fresh collard greens or kale, tough ribs removed
Juice of ½ to 1 medium lemon, to taste
Warm the olive oil in a large Dutch oven or pot over medium heat. One-fourth cup olive oil may seem like a lot, but it adds a lovely richness and heartiness to this nutritious soup.
Once the oil is shimmering, add the chopped onion and carrot and cook, stirring often, until the onion has softened and is turning translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic, cumin, curry powder and thyme. Cook until fragrant while stirring constantly, about 30 seconds. Pour in the drained diced tomatoes and cook for a few more minutes, stirring often, in order to enhance their flavor.
Pour in the lentils, broth and the water. Add 1 teaspoon salt and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Season generously with freshly ground black pepper. Raise heat and bring the mixture to a boil, then partially cover the pot and reduce heat to maintain a gentle simmer. Cook for 30 minutes, or until the lentils are tender but still hold their shape.
Transfer 2 cups of the soup to a blender. Protect your hand from steam with a tea towel placed over the lid and purée the soup until smooth. Pour the puréed soup back into the pot and add the chopped greens. Cook for 5 more minutes, or until the greens have softened to your liking.
Remove the pot from heat and stir in the juice of half of a lemon. Taste and season with more salt, pepper and/or lemon juice until the flavors really sing. Serve immediately.

Superfood Date Brownie Bars!🍫 These bars are toddler approved and go great with 🍷#justsaying Vegan and sugar free!
1 cup raw almonds
1 cup walnuts
10 medjool dates, seeds removed
1 scoop chocolate @idealraw protein powder
1/2 cup cocoa powder
4 tbsp LivFit Superfood powder from @betterbodyfoods
1/4 cup water + 2 tbsp
In a food processor, grind almonds and walnuts together until a fine meal. If you over process them they will turn into a nut butter paste! Add in your dates, protein powder, cocoa powder, superfood powder and water - process until it forms a dough. Press dough into a small loaf pan and freeze for an hour. Cut into 9 pieces and half each from there to make 18! Store in your refrigerator or freezer. #superfoodsaturday
