Watching #SuperSoulSunday conversation with #trevornoah @trevornoah he mentions his mother’s promise of not passing down the Black Debt. It was so beautiful and thought provoking through his mother. It made me ask myself do I have any debts that I have been given and passing it on to my children? We only understand debt through money but there are emotional, relationship, values, characteristics debt that we receive from our ancestors and continue paying it and handing it over to our children unconsciously.
When I had my first child I made a promise with myself that I won’t let things happen to her what happened to me, while I made the promise I had no idea what was I really making promise for. But over the years it got clearer and life kept reminding me to become aware of the debt. These were insecurities, no emotional understanding, lack of trust, missing or weak faith, belittling children, lack of self-worth, no dreams, helplessness so on. How do we pass on these? Through our behavior or our language worse both. While it is still a long journey for me but being aware of it and to do everything possible to reduce or eliminate this debt here with me and not pass it on to my girls. Understanding truth of life and purpose can strengthen us to become aware of the debt and also release it from our souls.
Ask yourself the pattern of life that you are living is it a debt you are paying off or are you learning to build a true one?
