Time On The Wrist
Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36mm Grey. Rolex is undoubtedly the most recognized watch brand in the world. I think it's safe to say that it's brand recognition far exceeds the Holy Trinity. Why? I can't say for sure but one thing for sure though is that almost every watch geek will vouch for it's quality. Thus, although Rolex bring with its name a certain negativity especially to non watch geeks who can't comprehend splurging such a huge amount on a watch, it also demands respect from the watch geeks who knows what the brand means and represents
This Oyster Perpetual 36mm wears much better than my Rolex Datejust 1601 although they are both the same size. The wider heftier lugs and case brings this sports watch a certain modernity that I cannot connect with the vintage datejust 1601. They might have the same brand design but the datejust 1601 seems much more dated and fragile compared to this newer Oyster Perpetual. Maybe it's the Oystersteel or maybe it's the solid end links and easy link clasp but there is definitely something about this new OP that makes me think it is much more durable than the older Rolexes. This says a lot about Rolex as they are not known for vintage reissues, instead they focus on gradual refinements and improvements to their watch
Overall, the watch without a date and cyclop means it's much more simple and cleaner. It's sunburst dial is beautiful and the fact that the one on my wrist is a very simple grey color means it wears up and down very well. It will also fit a variety of leather straps if you get tired of the oyster bracelet. My only gripe about this watch is the double indices at the 3, 6, 9. I wish those were not double indices instead just similar indices or even ones that are slightly bigger will do
At the end of the day, I don't want to return this watch but the sad truth is I need to.
Successfully home! But before I say goodbye to this recent Canada trip here’s an epic burger from @fatninjabite! I totally recommend checking them out when in the 6ix! And yes that’s fried chicken oozing from their side! 🍔🐔🍁#AnchorLifeDoesToronto
QUESTION: We ALL know the “Unicorn” sold for $6M but but was it really worth that kind of dough?? I mean, different strokes for different folks but, and call me CRAZY, but I think $6M is mucho dinero for this one 📷 - @sjxwatches
