Arm balancing and hip opening are my weakest elements of the Asana practice. They cause me the greatest challenge but I know they open me up to experience the greatest transformation. By focusing only on what we are good at we cut ourselves off from great opportunity to change. It is in the struggle that we are forced to overcome the external but more important the internal barriers we have created for ourselves. What Asana do you struggle with?

Firefly pose is a deep hamstring and hip stretch, and it also stretches the groins, torso and back. The arms and wrists are strengthened in this arm balance. The abdominal muscles engage and become stronger through lifting the body. So please warm up well and include hamstring, wrist, shoulder and hip stretches and strengtheners. .

For today I am showing you a #pigeonposevariation that I really love using my @narabellabrand strap. This strap is fixed at the extended foot and provides a lot of stability once held tight with the hands. It allows me to open up my shoulders but especially also to sink deeper with my hips and deepen that hipflexor stretch. Feel free to try this variation or any other pigeon pose.

Core stability is fundamental to a healthy spine. I engage my abs by pressing my belly button and ribs towards my spine, and at the same time maintaining the natural alignment in my lower back. The stick is just a prompt to prevent the leg from going beyond 90 degrees.

How normally my practice looks, lots of hips and chest openers.
Yesterday gave one of the most beautiful classes ever.
The connection with the beautiful group of souls was extraordinary, even some of them came to tell me after class.
Finished the day with a barbecue (only veggies for me) and woke up today with a view.
Really simple things.
I cherish you, I hold you, I live through you.
You — my body — are so beautiful, and the greatest gift to myself from this world
To live through you, to feel everything through you
You allow me to create art, share my passion, allow my words to flow freely
Feeling this way about my body has taken many years, a lot of time, and a lot of letting go.
The pressure to be or look a certain way is never ending — gotta be this, gotta be that.
How about I just be me, and you be you?
That sounds far better then us all living in misery trying to be something else.
So I cherish this body I am in, for I won’t be here forever. She’s mine for this time being, and I will spend my time loving her.
I’ll let my words and voice echo freely, silence isn’t my thing.

Making sure to spend time with my Self more often & getting this mind & body aligned. It is said that hips are the windows to emotions. Tight hips can mean emotional blockage/negative emotions manifesting. I make it a habit to spend extra time here for both physical & emotional reasons !
