I'll be the first to admit that my obsession with peanut butter (and @eatfatso especially) is verging on the obscene. Riddle me this, though: how many other foods are THIS versatile? I love PB pancakes, PB muffins, pad Thai, molé sauce, PB vinaigrette. . . And now, inspired by @fitfoodiefinds and @healthyglow.co , PB (and jelly!) oatmeal! I added @teraswhey vanilla protein powder, black chia seeds, and used @smuckersbrand no sugar added blueberry jam for some extra berry goodness. The top jar has some dried, unsweetened cranberries for texture, which I preferred over the jar without. Pro tip: if you use macadamia nut milk to soak your oats, it brings out the macadamia flavor in the Fatso. 🤤

Guess who got to run today? And by run I mean walk 3-4 minutes and then run 2-3 minutes for 30 min... but I will take it! My ankle wasn’t 100% pain free but it certainly felt great to get outside and back to some running. Hoping my ankle keeps feeling better and better. Waffling around. Started our Sunday with these @healthyglow.co waffles made with almond + coconut flour. So fluffy and so good! Topped mine with a little @enjoyyoso creamy cultured coconut, some fresh organic wild blueberries and a drizzle of pure maple syrup. Happy Sunday!

Waking up each morning and heading to the gym isn't always easy by any means but I'm always grateful for the steps towards being a better version of myself. It's a constant journey and it requires getting a little uncomfortable and taking risks. I am so grateful for each morning that I move towards growth.

I debated what I needed to get re-inspired so I started looking around for other workouts that sounded fun/interesting/challenging...I did a couple but then I found myself being inspired to create my own - something I haven't done in far too long. Let me share a nonscale victory with you while I finish breakfast. I have been getting in the habit of stretching more after a workout, especially after running. While I was doing just that after my run, I decided to add some mountain climbers (which I hate). It probably was only 20 seconds, but I didn’t feel like falling over after. And I am proud of that.

It's the last day of March and I'm busy reflecting on the past month. There's been a lot of ups and downs this month but despite it all, I am feeling optimistic and grateful. ❤ My intention for the last few yoga classes I taught was to "go with the flow." This didn't just mean to go with the flow of the class but to go with the flow of LIFE. As it throws us twists and turns, we can let it get us down and keep us down, OR we can pick up the pieces and keep moving forward. ✨ This intention was about as authentic as one could have been for me lately and it continues to ring true.

Workouts are feeling SO good in my body lately, especially getting back into weight training. I'm not lifting super heavy, but starting where my body is NOW (not where it has been before) and loving feeling stronger every single day.

I have had to admit to myself that I haven't been eating to fuel my body lately. It's been less fruits and veggies and more granola, processed carbs, and convenience. It wasn't all bad but after making this delicious veggie-filled dip for the boy's housewarming party over the weekend, I'm reminded that eating healthy can be easy, delicious, AND it makes my body feel pretty darn good!

This has been one of my favorite poses since I first consistently started practicing yoga years ago. An instructor made a comment in class about how if you think about something you really want while you're in this pose, you open the doors to it coming into your life. Was she right? I have no idea. 😂 What I can say though, is she helped open my eyes to the POWER of this pose. There's stretch, length and strength all in one pose. We dig into the physical and the mental benefits of a pose. ✨ We are reaching strong and looking up, trusting our bodies to hold us in place. We are digging into our hips and into our emotions, stress, and anxiety. We surprise ourselves and find that we're stronger than we ever realize. 💪🏻

It went so well and I was so proud of myself for pushing past my anxiety and teaching from my heart. ❤ I am also so grateful for the friendly and familiar faces who showed up to support me, cheer me on, and give their welcomed feedback after. ✨ I can't even begin to explain the feeling of teaching a class to the yoga community that I've been a part of for the last 2 years. I am so humbled. 🌸 With all that said, to my Grand Rapids area friends interested in taking any of my classes, I will be subbing THREE classes this week @twistedhotyoga! Friday at 9:15am & 10:30am and Sunday at 11:30am. All at their Knapps Corner location. If you're so inclined, I would love to see your smiling faces. 😊

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! 🍀These Flourless Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies from @ambitiouskitchen are PERFECT with Irish Coffee, and each cookie comes in at only 170 calories (17.4C/10F/4.8P). Gluten free, dairy free, and totally scrumptious. I made half according to the original instructions, and half with chocolate covered raisins. Works with @eatfatso PB, too!

Real talk: My anxiety is high lately (🆙) and there’s a lot of uncertainty and unknowns that I’m trying to navigate. 🛶 Workouts are one of my favorite ways to relieve some stress and get back to myself, whether that be running, yoga, or lifting weights. 🏃🏻‍♀️ I have been dealing with some strange nagging pain in my right hip, knee and ankle which is quite likely a physical side effect of that stress. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I am trying to be very mindful of my body and mind, and what I need in this moment. 🧘🏻‍♀️ As we celebrate #internationalwomensday, I knew I wanted to feel strong (mentally and physically) so despite a lackluster evening of sleep, I made my way to the fitness center for a quick workout. 🏋🏻‍♀️ Mindful not to overdo it, I biked for about 25 minutes then got in a short strength workout, including my 10 push-ups to meet my daily push-up goal for March. 💪🏻 I know life can be uncertain and scary at times, and the best thing we can do is remind ourselves that the Universe has our back, everything changes, and this moment is only temporary. ✨ What may seem like an overwhelming time is sure to teach you a lesson or put you in a place for something better to come along. 👩🏻‍💻 Whatever comes your way today, I hope you have the courage to stand up, put a smile on your face, and show the world just how strong a woman can be regardless of what life throws her way. ❤️ Have a great day friends, the weekend is another day closer. 📆

So many people have asked me how my practical yoga final went. They're asking because I was SO FREAKING EXCITED and couldn't shut up about it, but then I went radio silent. There's a reason for that. 😂 If you ask anyone who TOOK my class, I'm sure they'd say it went well but if you ask ME, the self deprecating and overly harsh comments will start flowing out. I'm a perfectionist and that's what I wanted from my class, but it wasn't what I got. ✨ With all that said, I remind myself that this is PART of the journey. This is part of learning to be a yoga teacher, to finding my voice and my path to share yoga with others. If I don't stumble a little, then how do I know where I need to keep working and practicing? 🙏🏻 There will be so many more classes and I can't wait to (hopefully) have each of you in them. 💜

TBH, ordering this huge (and very delicious, I must add) stack of french toast was kind of hard when everyone else was ordering quinoa skillets and salads… relatable anyone?? But today I said HECK YA to #foodfreedom and did it anyway💁🏼‍♀️ And it was SO worth it! I couldn’t have been happier with my choice to fill my body with what it really wanted rather than what I felt like I “should” eat.

I’m learning more and more every day about intuitive eating and how to listen to my body’s true desires. i.e. I’ve always been a sweet rather than savory breakfast person, and this dish was just calling my name, so there’s no guilt in enjoying every bite!

Originally, I was pretty excited to share my win with the 'gram. However, this weekend resulted in some pretty grim news: our dog (#collinstheswissy , @homobragger if you need dog photos in your life) is suffering from some very serious post-surgical conditions, complicated by an antibiotic resistant "super bug", Staphylococcus schleiferi. She's now on IV meds, and we're awaiting the green light for (another round of) surgical intervention. I definitely spent yesterday eating my feelings, and "fitness" is going to take a bit of a back seat for a while until we get Collins's health under control. Appreciate any positive vibes sent our way. 🙏🏻

True story: I put my mat down last night to go through my entire yoga final start-to-finish with music. I could tell something didn't seem right about the music and after 10 minutes, I started over only for the music again to not be right. I wasn't hitting "shuffle" but for some reason my music was still shuffling. Suddenly, I felt the stress hit me like a ton of bricks.

I felt the pressure I was putting on myself to lead the perfect yoga class on Sunday; I felt the anxiety of work; I felt every little piece of worry I've been experiencing in my life all at one time. I almost sent @rootsyogis the panic text we joked about earlier that morning. Instead, I sent it to @grmindyjean who did a quick google search, found my solution and brought me back to earth. Problem was at that point I was deep down my anxiety path and there was no way I could focus for an hour. So I rolled up my mat, crawled into bed with a book and went to bed early. This morning, I rolled my mat back out, turned on my playlist, and went through my class before logging into work. It went just as well as I expected, if not more so.

I tell you this story, because even in the moments we think we're holding it together, it can take just a small thing (like Spotify not playing my songs in the proper order) to "break" us. And if it does, when it does, it's okay to step away and come back later. In fact, it's probably a sign that that's what you really need.

True story: I put my mat down last night to go through my entire yoga final start-to-finish with music. I could tell something didn't seem right about the music and after 10 minutes, I started over only for the music again to not be right. I wasn't hitting "shuffle" but for some reason my music was still shuffling. Suddenly, I felt the stress hit me like a ton of bricks. *** I felt the pressure I was putting on myself to lead the perfect yoga class on Sunday; I felt the anxiety of work; I felt every little piece of worry I've been experiencing in my life all at one time. I almost sent @rootsyogis the panic text we joked about earlier that morning. Instead, I sent it to @grmindyjean who did a quick google search, found my solution and brought me back to earth. Problem was at that point I was deep down my anxiety path and there was no way I could focus for an hour. So I rolled up my mat, crawled into bed with a book and went to bed early. Yesterday I had one of those premade cookies that had better ingredients but it didn’t have the best flavor. So I whipped up a batch of snickerdoodles with more wholesome ingredients and I have to say they are awesome. I will give some to my family later and have them guess what the secret ingredient is.
