Just need to put the buttons on my first shirt! My husband likes early 2000's style ditsy floral printed shirts. I'm such a fan of this #lecien_fabrics print, I wish I had enough for a shirt of my own. Plan to reuse the vintage buttons from one of his favorite, terribly worn out shirts. McCalls #m6044 pattern.
Mostly happy with this make but had several "doh!" moments. Like when I melted my interfacing a few times. And when I was celebrating completing my first buttonholes only to realize I hadn't changed out my cheap practice cream thread for the good white thread. It is totally noticeable in person. Room to improve for next time.
M for Monday, #mmmay18 and mmm icecream... day 21// wearing my hot off the press #kielowrapdress . This colour is a bit of a experiment for me as I pretty much never wear light colours, initial reaction is I don't feel as confident despite loving the shape... a wee bit tempted to dye it red, but going to see if it grows on me (fabric is buttery soft bamboo jersey from @blackbirdfabrics that I won at #campworkroomsocial 💃🏻) #hilsdressmaking#houseofhils
Me-Made May, “sewing from the past” edition: an ikat jacket back from when ikat was hard to find. It’s the first (and last) thing I’ve sewn with princess seams and clearly I didn’t understand that giant pockets are the only way to go. (Pattern was McCalls, I think?) #mmmay18#handmadewardrobe#ikat#sewersofinstagram

Xx
You have all probably gathered that I knit, too. I wish I could sell knitted items because they are so beautiful and meditative to create, but I really hate knitting for other people. 😂 I did auction off some mittens this winter, though. Would you all be interested in more auctions of one-of-a-kind items?
#mmmay18 DAY 21
As I've been wearing my memades I've set them aside so I can see what I haven't worn yet. It's forcing me to get a bit creative which is good for me and I love what I came up with today.
I'm really into that tied blouse look but don't know if I would commit to owning one that had to always be tied. This high waisted skirt paired with a #ddmelilot is the perfect way to achieve it. Plus I love how bright I look today. 💙💚 Shirt is by @deer_and_doe_patterns in Cobalt rayon from @joann_stores
