I meet with a new gyno tomorrow. My fight for a pain free period begins again. 5 years ago I experienced so much pain during my period I was physically ill. I told my GP and she blew me off with pain medication. When that stopped working she put me on estrogen based birth control which made me horribly sick. I stopped taking it and suffered through another few years until the pain became unbearable. Again I spoke with my GP and she put me on progesterone birth control which made me bleed for 3 weeks before I finally gave up and stopped taking that as well. I’m tired and exhausted. I have pain a week prior and excruciating cramps for the week during my period. Tomorrow I reclaim my body by fighting for a fix. Finally someone will listen who can actually help me find a diagnosis (my vote is Endometriosis, which I’ve said since the beginning) and a solution. Tomorrow is the beginning of a fresh, pain free life. #endthestigma#mywahooisnottaboo#period#endometreosis#endometriosisawareness#periodproblems#menstration#gynocologist#fightforyourrighttobleed

The Female Cycle... rant begins now
I am so sick of not feeling like MYSELF....the pain, the discomfort, and insanity that tags along with the menstrual cycle.
Is it just me or is our period a little more of a battle than just pms and bleeding? Its an entire MONTH battle... on repeat.
Not only does my body take a beating but so does my mind.
It’s April 17, I am in fucking pain and bloated and uncomfortable... Im ovulating.
On April 4 it was the peak of pain... the arrival of my period. And for 6 long uncomfortable days, I’m annoyed and irritated, self conscious and not myself. For two more days I retain water and feel obese. That takes me to April 13... which gives me 4 days of apparently normal. 4 DAYS.
From today, In about 14 days i will hit peak pain again. But before then, for two days before getting my period i will feel crampy and sluggish and feel like i am getting my period. Which that leaves me 12 days. Also enter 7 days of pure mental and emotional hell... aka the classic PMS. Which leaves me with 14-7= 7.... 7 days, plus the other 4 days post ovulation and thats if my pain stops tonight.
Thats 11 fucking days. 11 fucking chances to feel like a million bucks. 11/30. Something has to change. Im sicking of living like I’m a criminal to my own body.
This is my exact motivation for living a healthy life and eating a health diet. I believe it all goes hand in hand with our menstrual cycle.
I refuse to take birth control or any type of medication or use any excuse like my genetics fucking suck (they probably do) no excises. #listentoyourbody
Currently eliminating dairy has been an eye opener and a step in the right direction.
Striving for 30/30, anyone else?
Shocking as it may seem but it’s not compulsory for medical students to learn about menopause. For that reason some GPs or even gynecologists see perimenopausal or menopausal women without the right information. If you don’t trust what they’ve said, ask for another opinion. Your health is more important than feeling awkward. My friend, at 52, was asking her doctor what birth control she should take. She is not perimenopausal (when your periods start becoming irregular) but he told her it would be close to nil chance at her age to get pregnant...Ladies, even if you are in peri-menopause, you may still be ovulating (even if irregularly) and so may still get pregnant. #ifyoubleedyoucanbreed
SWIPE WARNING visual content might be a bit strong for soft souls.
Today was the day for my cervical conisation. The gynocologist was nice to me and the nurse explained everything. It was less painfull than a smear test but i think they doped me well down there. Now I'm resting in the clinic for a bit. Nurse is checking up on me once in a while and life seems quite ok. .
I got to take some photos of the part they cut out but I had shakey hands so it might be a bit hard to see what it is. Tip of the cervix anyway. So that was interesting. .
I'll chill for the rest of the day and be greatful we got a good healthcare system in Denmark 😌.
Father of Modern Gynecology
J. Marion Sims is considered the father of modern gynecology but his background is not without controversy.
During the 1840s he performed experimental surgery on female black slaves often without anesthesia. The racist viewpoint at the time was that blacks did not feel pain.
This former plantation doctor would perform experimental surgery on the enslaved black women before trying the surgery on white women who were given anesthesia.
Pictured above is the statue of J Marion Sims which has graced Central Park in New York City within view of the New York Academy of Medicine. His statue will now be taken down and relocated to Brooklyn at his gravesite.
