Herdwick lamb are from the highest region of England known as the Lake District which sits more than 3,000 feet above sea level. The semi-wild mountain breed are thought to have occupied the area since the arrival of early Viking settlers and have been reared by shepherds from one of the oldest farming communities in Europe. The resilient sheep live wild on the mountains grazing on grass, heathers and even moss. So exclusive to the region, Lakeland Herdwick sheep have Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status which ensures quality and traceability of the meat derived from pure bred Herdwick flocks.

It’s British Asparagus Season at Gough’s on Gough! Growing up in rural Northamptonshire, UK Chef Arron has had a long-time affinity with asparagus. As his early career developed so did his appreciation of the seasons and his excitement of fruits and vegetables coming into their prime. Asparagus season being tantalisingly brief, running from mid-April to mid-June, Chef Arron would order daily deliveries of freshly cut spears from the local farm to be generously included in the featured menus or specials so all could enjoy this fleeting treat.
