Gomphus exilis (family Gomphidae) or Lancet clubtail dragonfly adult pair, in a tandem wheel mating position. .
This species is positively identified by the yellow colored markings on the side of sternite segments 8-9, as seen here on the abdomen of the male insect. .
This position, referred to as a tandem wheel by entomologists because of the continuum formed by the mating pair, is an evolutionary adaptation and advantage, allowing for the pair to fly while still connected to avoid predation. Oviposition or egg-laying begins after copulation with the pair still in tandem, as the male dragonfly guards the female from other competing males while she lays her eggs into a water body or inside of an aquatic plant. .
Odonata is the order of insects including dragonflies and damselflies, which have been in existence since the Triassic Period, about 250 million years ago. Dragonflies are aquatic during the immature stage, living underwater and preying off of other aquatic insects. As dragonfly larvae are highly sensitive to water pollution, they are considered bioindicators because their presence in a habitat is a measure of good water quality. #gomphidae#gomphus#species
"We are Nature and Nature within us." Painted this Clubtaileddragonfly (gomphidae) for Earth Day 🌏💛💚 The greatest detriment to the health of the environment and Nature is that humans have disconnected themselves from it. The majority believe that we are either just a part of Nature or even Superior and seperate from it. Though, every process observed in Nature can be seen in the human physical and spiritual bodies and behavioural patterns. Human nature is one the same as the nature of the entire planet.
The Earth is suffering because we ourselves are making ourselves suffer.
Infatuated and deluded in self obsession with the mind/brain approach to living and trying to identify our place within Life, not as Life. We are acting out of fear from poisoned minds and ego. And thus, our actions reflect, and manifest this corruption out into the Environment, as well as inward into ourselves.
When we choose to accept and allow our true Nature to be, we will begin to heal ourselves not just as an individual but also as the human collective. And the Planet will begin to heal.
Awareness, the practice of self love and compassion, and the sharing of information, will fuel our understanding of our experience and our connectedness with the Earth, will aid us in building new technological and social systems that work in synergy with Nature not against it.

A living "Satria Baja Hijau". We were lucky that you came by our home that noon. 😊😍. .
Dulu waktu kecil, suka ngejar-ngejar capung warna-warni buat ditempel di bodong (habis itu dilepas lagi). Katanya gigitan capung ampuh menghentikan ngompol haha. 😢
