I'd wager there are a million squat variations, at least, and each one has its own, unique, magical cadence that makes it fun and delicious and hellishly spectacular.

🦄Anyone who has squatted so much as a dingbat knows how effective they are and what a magical addition to your workout they can be.

🍕So today I've got 4 squat variations to show you - 4 of my personal favorites - each of which trains your body in a different way to move better get stronger, leaner, faster, and more explosive. Try one, Merlins Beard, try 'em all! They're certainly not for the faint of heart but, not to worry, should anyone pass out I've got a fresh batch of mandrake juice brewing that'll be ready in a day or two.

🦄1.5 Squats are a demonic tool in which every rep is really 1.5 reps. You go all the way down, half way up, all the way down, and all the way back up to complete a single rep. It burns the living horcruxes out of your quads and, believe you me, that's not something to joke about.

🍕Pause Squats are simple - not easy - in that you pause for 2-4 seconds in the bottom position of every rep (which is great for improving maximum, starting, and explosive strength).

🦄Box Squats are a great teaching tool for any witch or wizard who hasn't squatted much and/or has trouble finding their balance. Plus, they're much easier on the joints and tend to hit your glutes/hammies better than "free squats."

🍕Finally, Front Squats are the worst invention since the crutiatus curse but they work something extraordinary and are one of my all-time favorite squat variations especially for athletes and anyone with shoulder issues. -

💥 Transformation Spotlight 💥 I met Grace while I was out and about one day. She noticed my pin. We exchanged numbers and began talking and we learnt that I graduated from the same high school that her daughters attends/attended and many other things in common... She had a great start and has maintained her nutrition program despite an injury and a couple life setbacks. She has lost 14 lbs and over 20 inches all over! However, this spotlight rightfully belongs to her not because of her physical results but because of her resiliency! She motivates me to keep going because she keeps going. She calls me her angel 😇 haha but she's mine too! Btw, Grace is around the same age as my mom which makes her even more spectacular.💛

I think it’s the extra range of motion and the added function of using hamstrings to stabilize the dumbbells on the way up and down!! pls try it it’s awesome 😎

🍑🍑G R O W YOURE GLUTES PT.2🍑🍑

So last time I told you that the Glutes are compromised if 3 muscles: The gluteus Maximus, the gluteus medius, and the gluteus minimus.
•
The gluteus Maximus is responsible for extension of the hip. The gluteus medius and minimus are responsible for abduction of the hips (see my last post for further explanation 😉)
•
Previously, j showed you how target the gluteus Maximus, and so today I will show you how to hit the medius and minimus! To really target this muscle, we’ll want to perform moves that have our hips abduct (opening the legs) and adduct (closing the legs).
•
Here are some moves that do just that!
☝🏽 :  this is my favorite way to warm up the glutes, but can also be used as a finisher at the end of your workout too!
Banded Side Steps - place a small loop resistance band above the knees, start with your feet together, and step out sideways with one leg. Then bring your other leg to close them together.
Some tips:
• the more of a squat you go down into while walking, the more it will burn
• play around with band strengths!
• Make sure that your knees do not collapse inward towards each other. Focus on pressing against the resistance to keep your knees out and bring them back together in a controlled matter
• Throw some bands on while doing your squats, hip thrusts, RDLs, and leg press to target the medius and minimus as well!
✌🏽 : Hip Adbuctor Machine - I like to perform these in many difference ways. Show in the video I am doing light weight, slowww and controlled (thank you @alexisclairefit 💀). You can perform them this way, high reps (think 15-20) with lower weights, or low reps (8-12) with a heavier weight. The more you change it up the better! You can also do these with a cable or resistance band by attaching the cable/band to a stationary object, having said object be at your side, and then attaching the other end of the cable/band to your outer leg ankle and kicking the leg out sideways away from your body and what the cable/band is attached to.

💡 Hamstring strains are a very common injury in sports. The worse part about hamstring strains is that people are very prone to re-injury after the initial strain. However, there is something we can do about it.

💬 Eccentric(muscle lengthening) exercises prescribed during rehab have decreased the rate of re-injury. The thought process behind this is that eccentric exercises help with neuromuscular control as the muscle is lengthening which is how strains happen in the first place and training the muscle eccentrically also increases it's tolerance to stress.

✔ Here are three ways to train your hamstrings eccentrically. The first we have an elevated bridge with eccentrically lowering on single leg, bridge with heel walk outs and slow eccentric KB deadlifts.

✔ Remember that even if you're not necessarily recovering from an injury, it is a good idea to increase your muscle's tolerance to stress which can help prevent injuries from happening in the first place.

🦄1.5 Squats are a demonic tool in which every rep is really 1.5 reps. You go all the way down, half way up, all the way down, and all the way back up to complete a single rep. It burns the living horcruxes out of your quads and, believe you me, that's not something to joke about.

🍕Pause Squats are simple - not easy - in that you pause for 2-4 seconds in the bottom position of every rep (which is great for improving maximum, starting, and explosive strength).

🦄Box Squats are a great teaching tool for any witch or wizard who hasn't squatted much and/or has trouble finding their balance. Plus, they're much easier on the joints and tend to hit your glutes/hammies better than "free squats."

🍕Finally, Front Squats are the worst invention since the crutiatus curse but they work something extraordinary and are one of my all-time favorite squat variations especially for athletes and anyone with shoulder issues.

This dude litty just so y’all know
2 years of hard work and dedication who knew starting off in a tiny gym 10 minutes once a week scared out of my mind would turn into my absolute passion and love. The person on the left was insecure, had horrible self image, unhealthy relationship with food, and was so unhappy. The person on the right loves herself, knows her worth, loves food with a healthy mindset, and treats herself the way she deserves to be treated. Changing my mindset on working from “ I have to get to a perfect goal or I won’t be lovable” to “ I am doing this because I deserve this and I deserve to be healthy to my body as a way of self love” completely changed the way I viewed seeing my progress and my working out. It really does take just a little step and then another little baby step with consistency and determination to start the journey of self love. Results do not come overnight like I said this is two years and I’m still not to my goal but being happy in my own skin is something I wouldn’t trade for anything else.
2 years of hard work and dedication who knew starting off in a tiny gym 10 minutes once a week scared out of my mind would turn into my absolute passion and love. The person on the left was insecure, had horrible self image, unhealthy relationship with food, and was so unhappy. The person on the right loves herself, knows her worth, loves food with a healthy mindset, and treats herself the way she deserves to be treated. Changing my mindset on working from “ I have to get to a perfect goal or I won’t be lovable” to “ I am doing this because I deserve this and I deserve to be healthy to my body as a way of self love” completely changed the way I viewed seeing my progress and my working out. It really does take just a little step and then another little baby step with consistency and determination to start the journey of self love. 🔹Banded bent knee glute medius work
🔹Banded elevated legs glute bridge *(make sure to keep your core right during all glute bridges).
2️⃣ 🔹Barbell back lunge into step up and knee raise
Superset with:
🔹Barbell back squats
Finish with
🔹high reps very controlled hamstring curls. *(This is one exercise that you want to keep as controlled as possible. You may need to reduce the weight to keep it slow and controlled. Do not use explosion and the subsequent momentum to drive the weight up).

Quickie for the holidays to get those glutes activated. All exercises can be done on a flat mat and you do not need the bosu to get the benefits.
1️⃣- series of glute bridges- without bands, with bands, and with barbell. 
2️⃣- frog pumps without weight and with weight (make sure base of feet stay together as seen at end of video). *The key move in all the bridges and the frog pumps is the posterior pelvic tilt (tilt your pelvis up when you flex your glutes)*Happy holidays everyone 😘
