We meant to wander the neighbourhood by our B&B but ended up walking 4km to the colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. #worthit we are supposed to be up and on our way to the colosseum right now again but instead we’re laying in bed enjoying the break from hostel dorms. When you travel do you ever allow yourself to rest? It’s so important or else you get burned out. Kind of like how my feet are feeling right now. ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️
Found this colorful house on a poster and looked for it all day until I found it. There were many people waiting to take a picture with this house. .
All over Burano you’ll find extraordinary colors. Red, blue, pink, orange or green... this was my favorite house 🏡 💛💙❤️
Campsite in Day 1 of the Salkantay trek, a few kms from Humantay lake. The accommodation may have no showers, light after 9pm or toilet paper but look at those views 😍😍😍 The snowy mountain tops looked like a perfect fake back drop and would continually make me catch my breath!
On Day 3 we took a detour to a Inca ruin site Llactapata which has yet to be fully uncovered. The view from the site is amazing and we could see Machu Picchu in the distance on the ridge you can see in this picture.😍😍
It again was such a tough slog up the mountain but was made easier by a stop at a coffee plantation on the way up where we were shown the process of making roasted coffee beans and we also got the nicest cup of coffee of this trip so far.
You might wonder at my funny pants for hiking but they are a wonder at keeping out mosquitos so they are now affectionately called my Jungle pants 😅🙄
This whole trip has been utterly fantastic and it’s only two weeks in. I’ve seen places I’ve never seen before, read the alchemist which was wonderful, and my freckles are back in full force since this is the most sun my skin has seen in five years. #massagetherapistperks I haven’t written a blog post because I don’t know where to start, but hopefully there will be a new one soon. I’m just so happy to be traveling. But I really really miss my friends. Mostly Sydnee and @jessicavoytilla but we will make up for it in #santorini before I get knocked up.
If you want complete serenity, beautiful lush landscape and gorgeous symmetrical objects to photograph, go to Kauai! 📍This is the McBryde gardens, which single handedly could be one of the most beautiful gardens I’ve ever been to! .
And that ladies and gentlemen is one of the reasons why Kauai is known as the “garden state” 🌸🌺🌴❤️💕
This amphitheater was built in the 2nd or 3rd century and is the oldest known Roman amphitheater. That’s an eff ton of gladiator flights. #Pompei today was surreal and if you ever get the opportunity to go, do it. Give yourself a full day, keep your vibes high, and prepare to be awestruck and maybe say a few prayers of thankfulness that you don’t live squished between a volcanic mountain and a tsunamic ocean. ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️
To learn about any country, or place, checkout their arts and crafts. If you want to understand the people and their way of thinking, read the works of their famous poets and listen to their traditional music. .
Portugal is a colorful culture, full of art, history and traditions.
•48 miles this desert trip•
It explains why my feet hurt a little when I woke up this morning lol
Some of those miles were alone and some with friends. I learned a lot being alone the first couple days. I learned one of my main weaknesses is with navigation. I learned I need to pay better attention to waypoints and land markers so I don’t get so easily turned around. I learned I need to buy maps and plan better if I want to see all the cool arches and bridges I find on social media and not always trust AllTrails. I learned being lost alone isn’t nearly as funny as it is when you’re with your group of friends. I learned that sometimes it is really nice to recognize when you need to be alone and that I should never feel guilty about telling my buddies that either. * I learned that I am a strong woman and that it’s ok to breakdown and cry when life is too much to handle because even the strongest people sometimes have too much on their plate.
And although yes I can do whatever I want by myself (because I’m a very stubborn, independent person) it truly is better with the good company of my friends. Because that’s what life is all about.... sharing the things you love with the ones you love.
This is a photo of me after my second day out there. It was a long day spent looking for Maverick Bridge by Phipps Arch and feeling defeated after 15 miles. I did manage to see Escalante Natural Bridge though. I made it to the coffee shop and was just glad I had a hot drink before it got dark and that I was going to be camping with my buddy Matt that night instead of with just the coyotes. .
~Oh all the lessons the desert has taught me 🌵 ✌🏼
Sintra’s Pena palace is a UNESCO world heritage site, which so colorfully has been preserved on top of the mountain. .
Coming here was a dream come true, because the castle looks like a colorful fairytale. .
From #Lisbon travel by train to #Sintra , which takes only an hour. It would be a shame to come to Lisbon and miss this! .
#Portugal without visiting Sintra is like going to #USA and not visiting New York City or going to #Netherlands and not visiting the #Tulips 🌷
Well I suppose I should start from the beginning. This photo captures the beginning of what I hope will continue to be my life long journey. I had always been captivated by the mountains as a child, dreaming of one day hiking through them. I decided to finally make that dream a reality on Thursday of May 21st in 2015. With absolutely zero mountain exposure of any kind, my best friend and I decided to summit Mt. Marcy in the Adirondacks, the highest peak in that region. Go big or go home right? Despite the several mistakes along the way due to serious lack of experience, it remains one of my favorite memories, giving life to what was merely thoughts and wants and igniting a passion within me I never knew I was capable of.
I knew my first trip to Bears Ears would be incredible but any expectations I had were meager compared to reality. Three days deep in a canyon in the backcountry surrounded by towering red rock walls and living among native art and ruins, untouched lands, so many animal tracks, and barely seeing any other people. I’m already so in love with the desert but it grows every time I am reminded how vast, beautiful, wild, and important it is. #fuckzinke
