I’ve been craving fresh flowers for my house but all the bouquets in the stores I’ve seen come in non-recyclable plastic. 😑 Sooooo I foraged my own bouquet with #wildflowers found growing around my house. Just as nice as store bought and no stupid plastic! #fuckplastic

When you find awesome eco companies that are even conscious about their product #packaging ! @bahasaofthesea
About a month ago we were informed that we had won a cool prize from a fantastic, Environmentally conscious company, and that our awesome package was on its way! Inside the recycled-paper envelope was a cardboard box filled with Bamboo toothbrushes, a personal letter to us, and some wonderful little logos.
Now I've been using a bamboo toothbrush for awhile now, and it's been working fine... But these ones 😍😍😍! They are really, really nice.
This company CARES. These are the bonds we want to build. These are the businesses we want to support. These are the products we want to share!
What awesome products can you get behind 100%!?
Imagine having a free supply of hairbands! How many of these do you spot on the streets when you are out and about? Or how many have you lost over the years, and where do they go? The answer seems to be the streets! Like so many other consumer items, most hairbands are made from plastic materials, so we do NOT want them floating around in our streets, to go via storm drains into our oceans 🌊💦😱!
So I started to pick them up! As friends and family have learnt the hard way, I have lost all my shame with regards to picking up other people's crap from the streets, because I take it personal 😁! It's my planet, my ocean, my water, my salt and my food that is being contaminated by plastic 😱😷🌍!
If Lauren from @trashisfortossers can do it, we can all do it: If you wash the hairbands in soapy boiling hot water, they are as good as new. Less litter on the streets and less money wasted on buying more hairbands. Win win 🌍💪!
If you need to buy new ones there are plastic free options out there, or you can just make some from old fabric and elastic bands. But if you are the lazy kind, like me, you just urban-forage them from the local streets 😄🌍!
If we carry on as we are, by 2050, there will be more plastic in the sea than fish. If that doesn’t completely break your heart, are you sure you have one? @pelacase are beautiful bio degradable cases that won’t end up hanging around on the planet or in the sea forever, and I bloody love mine. 💗 #fuckplastic#passonplastic#savethewaves
TRUE or FALSE: plastic is literally the worst (A: true)

Insgesamt erzeugt jeder Deutsche 611 kg Müll pro Jahr
Not the most exciting pic but I made these #veggieburgers last night with the leftover almond pulp I had from straining my homemade almond milk. I mixed it with a cooked sweet potato(including the skin, I never skin veggies, it’s #foodwaste ), mashed chickpeas, tahini, nooch, sunflower and pumpkin seeds plus spices and baked these patties until they were firm. 🍔🍔Food waste is a huge issue and composting is great but should be a last stop for food scraps. Most food waste goes to the landfill in a PLASTIC bag and isn’t able to properly break down because it’s in a damn bag (can you tell I hate bags?). If it does break down it will release methane which is a huge contributor to #climatechange . The best thing to do is not waste food...period. Dogs are great at helping out with this! Getting creative with food scraps is a good way to make sure nothing goes to waste! 🌎🌱🌿
Friends, please be mindful when shopping to not accept plastic bags.
You don't need to put each of your fruits and vegetables in plastic, only to remove it when you get home and wash your produce. Put your produce in your basket (no plastic needed), pay, and wash thoroughly when you get home -- or bring bags with you to reuse each time you shop.
At this rate, we can't depend on the government to impact change, as their approach tends to be slow and late. It's up to us as consumers to give-a-shit and make thoughtful decisions. Our garbage doesn't disappear in thin air. Let's produce and consume less plastic.
If this post inspires you to take a few less plastic bags next time you shop, thank you!
All this plastic for four bottles of wine. I like to review wines without also turning the ocean into a dead plastic trash bag. Yes, I recycle all the materials, but using plastic when shipping wines is fucking dumb. There are lightweight recycled paper materials that work perfectly and wont take hundreds of years to break down. I tell this to everyone who ships wine who will listen, but... 😞
#eco#movimientoantiplastico#cambiadepajilla#iprotectutila#fuckplastic
Tap water in Las Vegas is safe to drink! I have been warned in the past from people I know telling me not to drink tap water. I knew from before that tap water is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and that bottled water companies had their own regulations. So I decided to do some more research and find out for myself to confirm that tap water is in fact, safe to drink. I called the Las Vegas Valley Water District and spoke to the water quality specialist who was very accommodating at explaining everything and answering my questions. The federal government created the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to ensure that drinking water supplied to the American public is safe and this is all regulated by the EPA. The bottled water companies are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Bottled water manufacturers are not required to disclose as much information as municipal water utilities because of gaps in federal oversight authority. Public water systems must provide reports to customers about their water, noting its source, evidence of contaminants and compliance with regulations, which you can find right on LVVWD website! People are worried about drinking tap water yet they drink these soft drinks and energy drinks that have all these unknown ingredients in them. In Las Vegas, our water is priced by the tier. .
Tier 1 - 1st 5,000 gallons costs $1.23 per 1,000 gallons
Tier 2 - 2nd 5,000 gallons costs $2.20 per 1,000 gallons
Tier 3 - 3rd 10,000 gallons costs $3.28 per 1,000 gallons
Tier 4 - 4th 20,000 gallons or more costs $4.86 per 1,000 gallons
If you calculate that, 5,000 gallons of water will cost you only $6.15! That is 7,574 16.9 fl oz water bottles! That is 315 24 packs which normally cost around $3 and that means you're paying roughly $946 for something that actually costs only $6.15!!!!! Annual spending on water bottles in the U.S. is $12,725,000,000. Global sales revenue is $75,000,000,000.
It takes crude oil and natural gas to manufacture the plastic water bottle. Wars are being started over something that is used once and thrown away! Bottled water is one of the biggest SCAMS of the century! Let that sink in.
