Working on a presentation about #thiamine#deficiency . By many accounts the data would have us believe that except in chronic alcoholism, thiamine deficiency is rare based largely on the assumption that because of food fortification programs we get sufficient #nutrients . But we have to ask ourselves where #fortification comes into play. Hint, it's not with healthy foods. So what we have in this world of so-called food abundance, is high calorie malnutrition. Though technically one can get sufficient nutrients eating this crap, because it is all fortified with added nutrients sufficient to meet our measly RDAs, the high caloric intake in the form of processed carbs overwhelms the capacity of nutrient dependent enzymes in the #mitochondria to process said carbs and metabolic damage ensues along with the corresponding disease processes. So how prevalent is thiamine insufficiency or deficiency outside of chronic alcoholism? Anywhere from 20->50% depending upon the population studied. #micronutrients matter #vitamins#eatrealfood#feedyourmitochondria#thiamin#thiaminedeficiency
Always a favorite. Fort Bowman (Harmony Hall), built ca. 1753 by George Bowman, one of the Shenandoah Valley's original settlers. Original interior millwork and hardware still remain. This one is lived in and is protected under easement (along with the entire property).
