Coming home to dim sum haus for our dim sum fix did not disappoint! Personal faves for both of us were definitely the baked salted egg custard buns ($4.80) which were a nice twist on the traditional liu sha bao. SO GOOD 👅
[Restaurant Ibid] - A favourite of mine is the Soy Milk Ice Cream made from soy milk and tofu. Its like our local beancurd. There is a sense of familiarity but yet elevated by the technique and other components on the plate such as the almond espuma and sesame cake.
Duck and char siew rice.
I was generally underwhelmed. Yes, the duck was succulent and gloriously tender. It was a delight to eat it while in the restaurant. However, this did not hold up when a takeaway portion was transported home. At home, the duck was definitely tougher. Perhaps it was a different cut altogether. I haven’t a clue.
The char siew was very average. I’ve definitely had better, and in fact, I usually do. There wasn’t much of an aromatic char, and it was too lean (read: chewy).
I had wanted to order a 2-meat combo (just meat), but was told I couldn’t have duck as one of the meat options. The only way I could have duck with something else (without ordering a quarter duck), was if I ordered the rice or noodle combo. But I didn’t want rice. I didn’t want noodles. I didn’t want one quarter of a duck all to myself either. I really only wanted to have some duck, and some char siew. No can do.
Fine. So I ordered the roast duck combo on rice. How was the rice? I wouldn’t know. I never touched it. Nor the veg.
I have to say though, it was nice not having to queue. At the peak of lunch hour, we were immediately seated, and very quickly served. Huge saving grace. But I don’t see myself being back anytime soon, unless I happen to be in the immediate vicinity, and in need of a quick bite.
Relish authentic Jamacian coffee and delicious brunch items @jamaicabluesg in @sunteccity
Jamaica Blue Signature Blend is refined and mild with a pleasant sweetness that verges on creamy. It has a South American base adding East Timor beans for its crema, Ethiopian brew for its aroma and Guatemala coffee for its acidity.
Besides the exotic blend, you also have a choice of delectable brunch items to go with the aromatic coffee.
The Avocado Smash with Maple Bacon will seize your attention right away with the bright, radiant colours of the appetizing mix of tomatoes and avocadoes drizzled with nectarous maple syrup and the zing of lemon.
The Chicken Laksa Fettucinne adds a local identity to the dish with its rich, piquant laksa gravy while the Eggs and the Florentine with Smoked Salmon will appeal to those who fancy eggs benedict drenched in tangy hollandaise sauce.

📩 Tks @jamaicabluesg and @sunteccity for hosting!
heard a lot about @dashijiabigprawnmee after it kept popping up on instagram a month ago. hence, i was quite surprised to find it relatively empty on a weekday evening at about 8pm.
the shop has a simple menu, offering prawn mee in dry/soup variations with prawns in different sizes (hence the 大大大.) however, the item that stood out to me the most was the dry fried prawn beehoon. ($16.80)
the closest dish that i can compare this to would be sembawang white bee hoon. fried in the same prawn stock that forms the soup base for the prawn mee, the beehoon absorbs every last bit of the rich, slightly bitter prawn essence. the prawn stock is further reduced, concentrating its flavour further. sprinkled on top are bits of coriander and crispy pork lard, adding some freshness and crunch to the proceedings.
part of the fun is also peeling the 4 large prawns that come with the dish. each prawn is roughly palm sized, and as a bonus some of the prawns are stuffed with prawn roe. truly a treat. .
P.S don’t forget to try their house made green chili. limey and spicy, it pairs perfectly with the beehoon. .
Muffins ($1.50) & Egg Tarts ($1.20) 🥧
Love the egg tart so so much, the egg custard is super wobbly and soft, not too sweet at all!! Although the egg taste is super mild... but i like it that way! 😅Very much like Le’s beancurd tart. The crust is crispy and buttery, not super oily, somewhat like a butter biscuit.
Creative dishes which won’t burn a hole in your pocket. Taste good as well however the dishes that probably taste the best here aren’t the most instagrammable. We like the chicken 🐓 breast the most for its tenderness and flavor. How could they cook it so tender?
Can’t be wrong with the duck 🦆 confit too. 😉
A pleasant dinner with @theson2018 crew today! We had desserts thereafter, with the Oreo Cheesecake served nicely chilled and the first appearance of the exterior appearing pretty enticing.
However, I was really disappointed as it did not set properly, not so dense and felt lumpy. 👎 It felt like I was eating a lump of whole cream and oreo as separated entities instead of syncing well together.
sesame bagel & scrambled eggs // egg white mushroom scramble & multigrain toast
Caught up with a good friend over lunch (? brunch?) today. Got stuck in the cafe for longer than expected because it started pouring, and was reminded of how good cafe vibes are. :)
Mitzo Special Barbecue Pork $18
Sadly, their 拼盘 special is no longer available (more value for money)! Nonetheless, this char siew is worth ordering even when it goes solo. Ate it at least 5x and I still think it's the best I've eaten ever!
Braised Lamb Shank with Enoki in Spicy Peanut Sauce $29
Smell-free tender meat in a unique yet savoury sauce!
Fried Rice with Ginger, Shrimp & Tobiko $22
Decided to order this over their "common" XO variation since it's a signature, and I wasn't disappointed at all. I don't particularly like ginger in my food, but its presence here was unintrusive and strangely refreshing!
Garden Deep Fried Dim Sum Platter $26
Cheese Escargot Puff
Truffle Seafood stuffed in Salted Egg Puff
Thousand Layer Radish Puff
I chose this platter over the "premium" one because of its unique ingredients, and was wowed over by how the fresh and piping hot fillings got me to rethink what Dim Sum can be like.
Aged Rice Wine Jelly served with Cherry Crush, Lychee Sorbet & Custard Cake Roll $18
Probably the most "traditional" item I ate next to the pork, its jelly was as smooth as can be!
Assorted Chinese Pastry Platter $12
Deep-fried Chocolate Liqeur Dumpling
Hokkiado Milk Cheese Tart
Mysterious Egg Pudding
Be it hot or cold, the tart tastes equally fantastic! Curiously, they served the hot one with an additional slice of lemon, and squeezing it into the tart resulted in what comes across as hot New York Cheesecake.
Value For Money: 9/10
The staff checked all the right boxes, even when there was an initial foul-up; my Dim Sum Platter order wasn't registered at first, to which they not only apologised profusely, but even served us the Jelly as complementary desserts 😍
Chic and fashionable decor amidst soft dancefloor music works for me!
It's my 6TH time here and I ain't stopping any time soon! Looking forward to trying their weekend brunch some day!

#latergram This izakaya that sells oden was a real surprise. The paitan snapper broth ramen was like Meghan Markle in the royal family, a breath of fresh air amongst tonkotsu ramen places in Singapore. The oden pieces were simple and good but I'll be waiting to see what else they have here.
Umami - a linguistic attempt to describe a hamburger’s rich, salt-laced, fat and earthy mineral juices. We'll, you can try to imagine what that tastes like or you could just come taste it for yourself. We recommend the latter 💁♀️💁♂️
