The Loki probe is ergonomic and provides two temperature readings at the same time. It will monitor the temp of your food, and also the ambient temp (inside the grill or oven) so you know if the grill is staying to temp. It relays the info to your smartphone to keep you up to date while you do other things. It’s a smart device!

Still #wanderlusting over the fabulous sensory experience, last #saturdaynight where four of us dined at the @wlondonhotel @theperceptionbar . Chef extraordinaire @cookinboots has designed a #vegan feast of a menu that’ll have you changing your perception of what vegan means, in one meal!
We wanted all the starters so that’s exactly what we did! From the refreshing crispy beancurd and rice noodle summer rolls to the crunchy cauliflower popcorn, starters really do set the bar high. Then there’s the gorgeous beetroot kibbeh with pickled chillies🌶and tahini that packs a punch. Mains were equally intriguing and we ordered one each, which we promptly agreed to rotate around the table, to avoid the #foodenvy that is frankly inevitable with a cracking menu like this!
My two faves were the caramel braised tofu in confit garlic rice and smacked chilli cucumbers 🥒- this dish was just phenomenally filled with flavours. A close second was the sweet potato 🍠gnocchi which came in a rock earthy Asian mushroom ragout that just took my breath away! Not content, we ploughed on to desserts and couldn’t resist the rose, cardamom and coconut 🥥doughnuts which were truthfully, a tad on the stodgy side, but yummy nonetheless, and no doughnut was left unturned. It was the charred pineapple 🍍that really finished off the meal with a bang - the lime leaf and lemongrass sherbet was so utterly zingy🍋 releasing fireworks on my palette and the black pepper praline just took it way out there to another dimension 😍 The funniest thing is after 11 dishes we were just the right side of full and feeling great for it too. I’m no overnight vegan, I love my cheese too much to say goodbye to it forever but in this #flexitarian age I’d certainly try more vegan recipes and restaurant dishes, if they can match up to this!

Hope you all had a great Anzac Day! We hung around at home, attempted some Anzac slice (I only had like, half the ingredients so I improvised!), had a huge lunchtime nap and then hit the beach this arvo. Pretty perfect really. How lucky are we to live in the times that we do? Life’s pretty good, right? Good news is - only 2 day till weekend! 😘
: homemade tarte du pomme’ 🍎 or ‘apple tart’, my favourite dessert, with a little twist of green tea for the crust is just perfect! The bitterness from green tea 🍵 goes very well with the apple. We’ll be open from 11am ANZAC DAY! Starting the day with a toast of remembrance and respect for the diggers, led by Publican Rabih Yanni. Pots of Melbourne Bitter at 11am are on us.
Then we’ll be kicking off with the biggest game outside of the Grand Finals – the annual Collingwood vs Essendon clash which pays tribute to the ANZAC spirit – will be played live and loud on the big screens with free pots until the first point and $10 pints all day.
