My love for wine and cheese never stops. Lately I’ve been on a Brie & Pinot Noir kick. Anyone else have a favorite wine and cheese pairing? 🧀🍷 •• p.s. my favorite Pinot right now is @portlandiapinot 🤓 but more info on that is coming on the blog soon!
Happy Easter weekend everyone! Finally getting some warm weather here in Virginia which means we get to sip on cold wines and enjoy some great views🏞 Hope you’re enjoying some well deserved relaxation time😊🥂 @pippinhillfarm
Okay, I KNOW I've said the BVLGARI hotel is great to hang out in Knightsbridge and it is, as it's in the heart of knightsbridge. BUT just off the beaten TRACK on the way back to Hyde Park is the famous Wellesley hotel @wellesleylondon. I only stumbled upon this hotel by accident as I had seen many a great review re the HOTEL and knew it was difficult to get a reservation. Anyhoo, The famous cigar lounge is well worth a visit. And what I love ABOUT going 4 or 5 stars is the nibbles that accompany the drinks. It's well worth it just FOR that LOL🇬🇧. Plus, the customer service is second to none and the staff are ALWAYS attentive. Food and wine from Smeg @smeg_uk. The GENIUS of the range oven is that it comes with its own pizza stone and paddle. Absolutely GENIUS @smeg_uk. NOT only did it look good, but we were given a demonstration of how to use it, and the pizza, has to be, the BEST that I've tasted. I make my own pizza and the base that they USE at Smeg was far superior. I lived near the oven and scoffed, a whole pizza down, WITHOUT shame!
In addition to the wonderful goods one can buy wine, parmesan and pickles and sauces from the OWNERS estate at the store. What a fab-u-lous idea.

Today's dinner just ordered, is a mouth watering, lamb madras, chicken tikka, bombay potatoes, pilau rice, tandoori half chicken, popadoms, salad and pickles.I can't wait for this spread to arrive later this EVENING. It's another bargain dish at Green Chilli and comes from their set menu for one, which I just add the tandoori chicken too and its all in for £13.
It's ENOUGH for two people and is great washed down with a ice cold Tiger beer!
Yum yum yummy! I❤Indian food. Pic source @alittlecupofheaven #amaturephotogtapher#i ❤indianfood #setmenuforone#tigerbeer#greenchilli#foodandwineblogger#alittlecupofheaven
Since I'm NOT doing dry JANUARY, well why would I limit myself just in JANUARY, when I have alcohol FREE days every WEEK?
I would like to feature, a wonderful wine that I had the pleasure of tasting, well guzzling in PARIS. I'm not a wine expert per se, BUT I know what I like and like what I know.
It's JUST difficult in France NOT to appreciate the wines that they have and the local bar owners are marvellous at sharing their expertise. Case in point, this beautiful vin rouge Bordeaux which is a wonderful blend of merlot and cabernet and cabernet Saviginon. It tasted velvety and had those fruit notes that everyone hanckers for. Needless to say, I bought a few bottles to bring back to Blighty.

Yesterday's second adventure took us to @jordan_wines for a picnic because it was my birthday 😊 .
These picnics are fairly new: You book it beforehand and go to the @bakeryjordan when you arrive. They'll have your basket ready for you and you can bring it down to the spot where they've laid out some pillows and a blanket 😊 .
The picnic costs R525 for two people and includes two types of freshly-baked breads, a selection of cheeses, a selection of meats (which includes a delicious pulled pork jar), olives, hummus, beetroot, an addictive garlic aioli, paté and a salad in a jar 😊 .
The picnic also includes a bottle of the Chameleon Rosé or Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay blend 👌 You can also pick up something sweet from the @bakeryjordan to have as your dessert 🍰 .
Great spot to spoil yourself for a special occasion or even a romantic date day 💕 .

I know you all know I'm a Francofile and hope to be making this WONDERFUL country my home soon. One of the many, many things that I just ❤ about all things French, as you all know is the food. Today, well, to be honest over the last few days, I've been intrigued by these Kings Cakes that I've been seeing of the pages of @pierrehermeofficial @fauchon_paris as well as other feeds. And apart from drooling, I was educated as to their cultural significance. So here's what I've LEARNT.
The "king cake" takes its name from the biblical kings. In Western Christian liturgical tradition, the Solemnity of Epiphany—commemorated on January 6—celebrates the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child. The Eve of Epiphany (the night of January 5) is popularly known as Twelfth Night (the Twelve Days of Christmas are counted from Christmas Eve until this night). The season for king cake extends from the end of the Twelve Days of Christmas (Twelfth Night and Epiphany Day), up until the end of Shrovetide: or Shrove Tuesday; the day before the start of Lent. In France, whoever gets the King cake trinket can be king or queen for the day. source Wikipedia.

For my dear friend Kyle, aka @mr.ridington, a sommelier of 10 years standing, who's post I always love reading as his knowledge of wines and champagne is impeccable. I always want to buy the ones he's recommending, as the description ALONE has me salivating.

THE Athenaeum HOTEL and Spa, is without a shadow of a doubt, the BEST customer services Hotel in the Knightbridge area. Second and third would be the Berkeley and Wellesley respectively. The hotel that I was most disappointed by was the BVLGARI hotel. But that was just the management. When one does 4 or 5* in LONDON, great customer service is a must.
I shall definitely be enjoying afternoon tea at the Antheneaum, who treated me as a part of their Family. Everyone from the doorman, to concierge and restaurant staff were Exceptional.@theathenaeum @the_berkeley@wellesleylondon #amaturephotographer#foodandwineblogger .
These croissants I made using a great recipe. They work out at 220 cals each.
