Everyone loves a good before & after. Left photo 5th of April a few days before being diagnosed with IBS, when my stomach was so swollen i couldn’t bear to feel any pressure on it, and i was so bloated people thought i was pregnant. 
Right photo this morning after 5 weeks of following the FODMAP isolation diet. It’s in no way a quick fix, there have been days when i’m close to tears, but it’s been worth it to take back control of my body & my life. 
I now have to start reintroducing potential trigger foods back into my diet, which in itself is scary. But for anyone who is struggling with severe IBS i throughly recommend going to your GP, doing some research and seeing if the FODMAP can benefit you. .

It was so cold this morning! So it was the perfect time to make a warming bowl of spiced vanilla and zucchini oats. I added ginger and nutmeg and cooked the oats in almond milk then served it with coconut yogurt and walnuts. It was delicious! 😋

Throwback to traveling this past week. I’m a very picky eater and there’s not much at the airport that I can eat. So, I chose a @starbucks protein box. Bad thing about this, I could only eat 1/2 the box bc the apple and honey PB are high in Fodmaps that affect me BAD. How do you manage the airports??

Fruit is a hard one for those following a low FODMAP diet due to the level of sugar in them, however with fruit and a low FODMAP diet it is all about quantity control

My stomach can be really sensitive to bananas, so these small unripe ones are perfect for me! Unripe bananas are considered low FODMAP, however once they become ripe, the fructose level in them are considered high FODMAP

I won't be eating the mango, as this high FODMAP, containing high levels of fructose, even in small amounts 
______
Rambutans are low FODMAP in small doses (around 2), however around 4 then leads to higher levels of Oligos-fructans

Low FODMAP Smoothie Bowl 🌿

Ingredients: 
1 banana🍌
1/2 cup raspberry
1/2 cup Granola Snack by Casa de Sante
1/4 cup cranberry
1 cup almond milk 
1 tsp blueberry powder 
1 tbsp chia .
.
Prepare: 
Put a banana, 1/2 cup raspberry, 1/2 cup Granola Snack by Casa de Sante, 1/4 cup cranberries, 1 tsp blueberry powder and 1 tbsp chia.

Mix all in a blender until a smoothie is made.

We cast the composition into a bowl.

Decorate with almonds flakes, blueberries, chia, coconut and kiwifruit.

Serve immediately.

Good appetite!🌿

Admittedly, today I was feeling overwhelmed with all the "red light,  green light " foods (#monash university FODMAP app, check it out if you don't have it. They are the leaders in research for this). Onions and garlic are no no's, even onion or garlic powder can cause problems and you would not believe how much stuff that is in!! Even prepared yellow mustard has it. Seriously?? And mayo!! And hot sauce. Or deli meat.

So naturally what I've been craving today is chili,  macaroni and cheese, and lasagna (mmmm, doesn't that sound good with a side of GARLIC bread???). All high FODMAP foods  Ugh!! I just have to keep reminding myself what those foods have done to me before and realize how great I feel now. .
I've been reading that people with #ibs need at least twice as much protein as people without IBS because we simply don't absorb it. So tonight I went nuts with deviled eggs (omg....so yum...) and turkey breast. On the side is some fresh veg and roasted white sweet potatoes. .
If you like the looks of the meals I am making on this whole #ibsdiet journey, I am currently developing a blog and will announce it once it goes live. I'd love to have you join me!! This whole process is so confusing, so having a support group is essential. 😘

🍓 FODMAP dietary approach for IBS is NOT (technically) an elimination diet like you would do for food chemical intolerances. It's in fact a diet of substitution! So here I made some clever switches to make pancakes a reality those living with IBS. . 🔄 Swap regular flour for @thehealthybaker Low FODMAP flour, I swapped regular cow's milk with rice milk (calcium fortified, of course!), I added chia seeds, baking powder to get that fluff, and an egg

🍌 Topped with low FODMAP fresh strawberries & raspberries instead of banana and I used maple syrup instead of honey🍯

🥞 To be honest, these tasted like regular pancakes to me!

LOW FODMAP PANCAKES 🥞 // This pancake queen has got your back if you struggle with ye olde FODMAPs and the subsequent gut stuff associated 💩 . 🍓 FODMAP dietary approach for IBS is NOT (technically) an elimination diet like you would do for food chemical intolerances. It's in fact a diet of substitution! So here I made some clever switches to make pancakes a reality those living with IBS. . 🔄 Swap regular flour for @thehealthybaker Low FODMAP flour, I swapped regular cow's milk with rice milk (calcium fortified, of course!), I added chia seeds, baking powder to get that fluff, and an egg . 🍌 Topped with low FODMAP fresh strawberries & raspberries instead of banana and I used maple syrup instead of honey🍯 . 🥞 To be honest, these tasted like regular pancakes to me! . 👇🏻 Let me know if you're keen on the recipe by commenting below
