Day 14: grab a delicious final breakfast in #Florence at Cafe Romano, before walking through the leather market and the Mercado Centrale, and catching the fast train back to #Rome , where you check into your final Airbnb, eat from the oldest gelateria in Rome, walk the Via del Corso and #treatyoself , and end the day with takeout pizza, a bottle of red wine, and Netflix.
Today I crossed the river and wandered. There was a super steep hill straight away so I took it knowing it would probably be a deterrent to many and lead to quiet places... it did, and I’m in love with this place. As a city, Florence is lovely and awe-inspiring and ancient and modern and glamorous and relaxed. But this made me so happy. It was like being on an episode of Escape to the Country 😂 (anyone else hooked on that show?!) The rolling green hills and ivy-covered laneways and pastel-coloured buildings with views over the Duomo. Pretty special. (And I’ll always take the mystery house - assuming it’s that glam one perched on the hill there 😍)
