Since I had to work on Earth Day, I decided to celebrate a little bit today. I got to play in the garden a bit and harvest a few goodies, including the beauties! I think they are a keeper. What do you think? 🍑🍑🍑
The autumm edition of the Garden Gathered workshop at @riverdalefarmalbany was filled with so many amazing flowers from the gardens there.
We received some extra cafe au laits from @millbrook_flower_farm.
Thank you to Jane @_ivyflowers_ and Steph @wallflower_studio_perth for coming down and being a part of the Garden Gathered team.
I am so excited to see the beautiful photos from the day taken by @jemmakeech 😍😍😍 A thank you also needs to be given to the lovely hair @kate.samiotis.hair, makeup artist @ruthwillmermakeup and our beautiful model @renee.vdv. ♡♡♡ Thank you so much for coming out and adding your wonderful skills to our day.

Spring is here in all its glory and I’m so excited! I am spending today finishing up the floral order for our first wedding of the season and also prepping and packing for a presentation I am giving tonight for a garden club. Actually 2 garden clubs under 1 roof- so it’s going to be a party! Check out my insta stories for a look behind the scenes into my design process for our wedding and events and also stay tuned for a look into what I will be designing tonight. One clue: #foamfree (Beautiful tulips pictured above were grown by @littlestateflowerco and will be on display in tonight’s presentation)
The rose that launched a thousand addictions, and led me straight down the rabbit hole! My Edens are covered in buds and I keep staring at them like a crazy person thinking maybe one opened up since I was out here last (as in 5minutes ago). Be right back, gotta go check on em real quick 😉 #isitroseseasonyet
This spring and summer, we'll be joining @ceri_hoover in her shop on 12 South for a weekly flower pop-up each Friday. Starting May 4th, pick up a hand tied bouquet of fresh local flowers, available Friday thru Sunday. Interested in a custom size or style? We'll be taking online pick up orders - link will be posted the first week of May.
I’m a “go getter” and sometimes that means I go ahead of myself before setting good foundations.... it’s been a few years now since I’ve grown to recognized this as not just a weakness but also a strength. Strength bc I have big visions and don’t feel afraid to just go for it even if I fail or faulter along the way; I’ll initiate, trail-blaze, and be the first (or only) to go through something new and go with all my heart and invite others to come with. Weakness bc I can get ahead of myself and forget to take a little extra care and attention on the foundations- I see the destination and want to get there. Over the past few years I have new found joy in setting good foundations, the little garden heart of mine values the processes SO much and sees the joy in the greatER beauty set before me which is a promise from God. I’m still learning how to set good foundations in life and on this physical garden of mine.... it’s no where near where I want it to be but I’m open to being wrong, being shaken, being pruned, being challenged, being imperfect and going through the wilderness. It’s shut up in my bones that it’s so worth it.
One of my favorite things I’ve found about the gardening world is how much grace there is in it. No ones is ever like “oh you didn’t know that, you’re an idiot you should have never started gardening.” Instead there’s a common thread of like “Good for you for growing this year”.. even if it’s one thing. Theres infinite amount of things to learn from year to year and I feel like everyone sorta starts off knowing nothing.
That’s the beauty of gardening, there’s so much grace to the process and everyone’s cheering each other one. Theres always intense joy for any harvest even if it small because we celebrate that you started! You stepped in the dirt, in the mess and you decided to make something good grow. Praying for y’all to see how amazing it is that you are choosing to get dirty and make something good grow- whatever it is. Praying you don’t feel alone in taking your time to do that, and praying you feel the comfort and GRACE of God on whatever it is your building with him. HE CELEBRATES ALLLL THE LITTTLESSS! 🌱🌱🌱
Just a morning “thank you” to everyone who’s been receiving their books and sending me messages this week. I think #thebritishflowersbook is going to be out on lots of workbences, and used at plenty of wedding consultations over the coming months and years. As the flowers come out here onthe field, i’m already noticing varieties i left out, flowers and fillers that are just as good and need to be championed too. So i’m setting the #britishflowersbookchallenge What have you got that’s #britishgrown that goes with a theme from the book? Here for apricots and cream, i’ve got Tulips Apricot parrot, Apricot delight, Mount Tacoma and Menton, Geranium and Winston churchill narcissus, anemone, ranunculus, ninebark, honesty, frittallaria and poppy. #fieldtovase#floralfaffing#floralflatlay#springflowers#showusyourflowets#seasonalblooms
Looking for something to do with the kids this Sunday?
Why not join us at the beautiful @loganbraeorchard to celebrate the launch of local author Asia Upward’s children’s book Lovable Lottie And The Lost Toy.
There will be lots of fun things to do on the day! We will be there making flower crowns for your little ones. Hope to see some of you there! 🐶🍎🌼
The bright side to the never-ending-winter we just had? Mother’s Day flowers! At least that’s the plan 😆 it seems like my field is the Antarctic of Central Iowa. Total genius movers my part to pick this weird slopping freezing section to grow flowers.🤞summer actually happens this year.
I’m now taking a limited number of preorders for Mother’s Day to be delivered on Saturday, May 12. Normally, we don’t deliver on the weekends, but we’re making an exception for Mother’s Day weekend. Cost is partly based on the area it will be delivered. So if you’re looking for a special arrangement to send out for Mother’s Day, contact me with the delivery area, and I’ll give you all the information! What you can expect to see in these mixed bouquets: roses, sweet peas, salvia, snapdragons, accent flowers, a mix of fresh herbs and foliage! #farmerflorist#flowerfarmer#slowflowers#localflowers#fieldtovase#fieldtobouquet
The first of many beautiful images from @kellybrownphoto of our workshop last week with @soilandstem. Thanks so much to all of you who came and brought such great energy and questions. I always love seeing how students connect and find common ground through flowers. Thanks too to @afox.intheflowers for such amazing help and @charlotteandthequail for a wonderful lunch. And last but not least, thank you to @busybeefarmandflorals @ninebarkfarm and @cartrefgardens for your stunning flowers. #emergingfromwinter#gardentovase
Here’s this week’s display @loughcrew cafe. This was made from 2 of our €5 narcissus bunches (which are for sale everyday at Loughcrew) and some extra greenery foraged from the garden. So simple yet effective. Check out our flower kiosk outside the cafe at Loughcrew next time you’re passing. #irishgrownflowers#fieldtovase#grownnotflown

Excited to add these vintage (heirloom?!) tools to our arsenal! They’re heavier than fiberglass and don’t have fancy ergonomic handles but I love that they’ve got history and can’t wait to give em new life! Not to mention I scored them off a gracious elderly man on the @letgo app for a sweet price.
I’m quite passionate about reusing things, which is really why I’m so happy I got these tools. If you know me, you know most of the clothing in my closet (even the really nice stuff) was purchased second hand. I am active in my @buynothingproject community in Buffalo where we give and share anything and everything for free. I’m sourcing all my floral vessels and mesh either second hand or for free - highly inspired by @tincanstudios on this one. There will be a lot of things I’ll have to buy new (irrigation system and fencing materials mostly), but I’m trying to control the waste in my business wherever I can. There’s always places where we can cut back on waste.
Now, can anyone suggest what I can use that ice pick thing for besides murdering a deer when it breaches the fence? 🌿
