From evolving, learning, inventing developing, improvising and eventually; being successfully able to lead comfortable lives, we learned to live. From the time when we were sons and daughters of destiny, and struggled for food and safety every single day, we gained control of our reality. We learned the value of emotions and grew out of struggling for one day at a time and started having stores of memories and of dreams. We became the strongest of the species, the masters of our own fate.
And from that, what have we become? Ever since social media gained such importance and the accidents, the crimes and all the bad things being so heavily focused upon, fear has become a primary emotion. We have come upon to exist everyday in fear of failing, becoming useless, old, fragile without realising the utter obviousness of those inevitable truths. Parents stop their children from going to lakes, mountains and cliffs. In the fear of death, they are taking away their children's right to live. Parents disallow children to fall in love, because of the rare bad examples of failing in love and being immature being amplified in their minds. No one is born wise. Religious beliefs are forced without understanding them. Everyone has the right to their own lives. No parent has 'rights' over their children. They should be allowed to live. To learn to live.
From the time of learning to live, we have become people who fear something or other all the time. If something has to happen, it will. If you are to die, you will die no matter what. And this is what it means when it is said that when you love someone, let them go. Allow them to have a life of their own. Allow them to make mistakes, learn from them, and correct them. Guide them, but don't put a leash around their necks and pull them where you want to go. Allow them to tread their own way.
More than allowing ourselves to experience what we have, we fear things that might never even happen to us. And sadly, that's something we'll never grow out of.
Unless, we learn to live. And let people live.
As each day comes.
One day, at a time. -Akash
