😍😩😂❤️ So far 2018 has been awesome.
My kids are now 5 and 7. (Gracie is 7 and Henry is 5)
Their self awareness is really increasing and I am able to kind of “coach them” more. Henry does 20 push-ups a day for 4 days a week if he wants $1 at the end of the week.
Some people may roll their eyes at this but the truth is- we live in a country where the youth get PE sometimes 1-2x a WEEK at school! We have type 2 diabetes in children like we have NEVER seen before and parents actually say things like “I CANT get my kid to ____.” Now...I am no parenting expert. 🙅🏻♀️ But I do know that the vital and foundational development of a child that happens emotionally ALSO happens PHYSICALLY.
It is a disservice to our kids to not promote the same kind of physical development that we do SOCIAL or emotional. Think about it. We tell our kids how to act in public and expect that from them- but have you even considered your child’s bone density? 🤭 just saying! I am learning I REPEAT I AM LEARNING THIS SHIT TOO SO DONT BE OFFENDED. But I’m calling it out!! PARENTS- it is OKAY to teach your kids how to LOVE themselves AND take care of themselves at the same time. I don’t give a SHIT what my kids decide to wear or what their physical appearance ends up being...I dont. I care if my kids know how to care for themselves fully. Mind and body. WE are the ones that should be laying a foundation for our kids to grow up healthy, aware, and capable. As well as self accepting and disciplined. Take it upon yourself. We don’t have to be perfect parents to teach good lessons. So I implore all you parents to encourage your kiddos in wellness- All parts of it. Learn to teach. 💯

Constraints Part 2️⃣

Constraints have 2 constant characteristics. They are always present and they are NEVER the same. The more there are and the larger scale each is, the less optimal movement will be, simply because the body will have LESS ways to adapt when there are MORE limiting factors.
.

Dialing in on physical (organismic) constraints. Not only do they play massive roles in your golf swing. But they also can potentially BUILD if left unaddressed.
.
.
Let’s take into account today only the constraints of fatigue and strength.
.
.
The fatigue 🤕 of traveling to the tournament, playing practice rounds, range sessions before and after, the actual tournament rounds of walking 18, 36, 54 holes. Each day the workload is different, depending on the exact path the golfer took that day, the frequency of shots, type of shots, temperature that day.
.
.
Along these same lines strength is decreased according to the specific workloads encountered, the lower body may lose strength at a different rate than the upper, the postural muscles will weaken at varying rates depending on tasks performed, the left and ride sides of the body may even lose strength at different rates depending on weight shifts.

The answer to these rapidly piling up constraints is at how most golfers approach tournament prep.
.
.
Without getting into any specifics on what is good and what is bad, it is of the utmost importance that golfers include something that nearly every other sport makes a priority in training before competition season.

A General Physical Preparedness or GPP phase. GPP is of such critical importance for the same exact reason most golfers completely overlook it: GPP is NON sport specific training. Tomorrow I’ll be detailing more about what GPP is, how/when to integrate it, and why any golfer who does will be leaps and bounds ahead of the pack.
