Every day for the last two weeks or more I’ve tended this fire. I have fed it and resurrected it from ashes, loved it, and used it as a way to let go. I will actually miss it’s company when it’s gone, or when I’m gone, whichever comes first.
It’s become a friend, a confidant, symbolically shedding the onion layers of my past onto it and watching them burn. Crazy, maybe, but it’s not felt like work carrying the mountain of wood to burn. I have had beautiful conversations around it, and made deep connections, and a few peaceful meditations.
I have also watched the landscape open up and reveal so much of its future potential, it was a massive pile of rubbish when I arrived here and now you can clearly see where we’ve been.
Here’s to all the Gunnebah pyromaniacs, now friends, who have helped keep this, the best of all bonfires, alive for so long.
