Avocado dye on the brew today. I'm yet to have much success with avocado pits or stones as a dye but I covet the beautiful results I see so many others achieve so I keep on trying! Some of these pits seem nice and rich in colour so fingers crossed that this time will yield some success!🥑🥑🥑
Through this flower business we’ve met so many talented, creative people. Yesterday we had the pleasure of sitting down with @silkandsumac for tea and a chat about all things flowers. She left us these stunning naturally dyed silk ribbons she made. Hard to believe that all these vivid colours were achieved using botanicals. .
Hopi Red Dye Amaranth, Hopi Black Dye Sunflower, Dyer’s Chamomile, Dyer’s Coreopsis, & Navajo Tea all coming up nicely! Seeds from @grandprismaticseed (Next year maybe I can get some Japanese Indigo seed)
We leave in 7 days. Off to Nimbin Mardigrass we go with our Hemp creations 🌱 So excited to meet this tribe of likeminders. We’ve been working towards the festival for many months & are all excited, nervous, tired & exhilarated to get going 🌱 See you soon Nimbin 🌱
When I get a little flat about what is coming from the dye pot. when all seems brown + pink + grey. I have to remind myself that these fabrics were once white. hooray for every shade + tone + streak.
I have finished the latest edit and there are still items for you so come inside and wander the racks + shelves + stacks. 👌🏼
🌼These cotton, linen and wool swatches were dyed with beautiful forsythia flowers. ✨I pre-mordanted the fabric with alum then put the swatches in the dye-pot over night 💛
The top row shows the lovely warm lemon tones that I got 🍋 and the bottom row shows the colors after a short dip in iron water 💦 I love the sage/barley tones, such a surprise! 🍃🍂🌼
A local choir wanted to create something for a member whose husband had just died. They wanted to do something to express their support and affection that their friend could have around daily in her life. We started with silk thread and strips of silk. Everyone was given instructions to take a piece home and dye it with something from their garden in a jar on their window sill. #ecodye#artforeveryone#crafty#makingmemories ❤️ #communities
Pomegranate: a fruit that signifies abundance, felinity, sexuality and fertility. I'm so lucky that @farmerforager saved some for me and now I can use them to dye fabric yellows and greens and imbue them with the energy of some of my favorite tarot cars like The High Priestess, The Empress and the lovers which have lots of pomegranate imagery in them.
