When we are babies we cried for food and we pushed away or turned our heads when we were full. What happened to our instinctive eating skills?

Various things have made our minds switch on how we think about food. It is the press, our environment, nourishing feelings with food, dieting restrictions, body types. Ugh! The list goes on.

Ok, what if no one dieted again and just ate to feel energized, ate nutritious foods to keep the body functioning properly, still ate treats when felt like it, was happy with who they are and listened to their bodies so they knew what it really needs. That sounds like the best diet to me!!!! 😁
Our cravings for sugar will diminish when your body is healthy - that will just come in time. 
Think of the foods you GET to eat!

Broke my 18 hour fast at 8am this morning with a couple pieces of bacon, had a small coffee with cream at 8.30 and haven’t felt the need to eat since so guess it was time to fast again!

The whole world revolves around food

Everywhere you go there is food

When we as humans get together, there is food

Not only that. High calorie, low nutrition valued foods are easier and more convenient to consume

It’s fighting a losing battle
.
The big reason why people overeat is because of fear
.
Fear of being too hungry
.
In realty there is nothing wrong with feeling hungry. You aren't going to die
.
But feeling hungry is uncomfortable
. 
When the body is in an uncomfortable position it tries its best to get out of it
.
The way the body knows how to do that is from past experiences
.
In the past when you felt this way you ate cheese cake and you felt better. Now that you feel the same way you need to get cheese cake
.
And the cue for craving cheese cake kicks in
.
If you could somehow find the inner strength to hold yourself back. To learn how to sit with the feeling of hunger and discomfort
. 
After a couple of weeks, it might take a month, you will find that your hunger cues change
. 
Your body gets used to eating less
. 
Your body will feel satisfied with having 3 full meals and 2 solid snacks instead of snacking every minute on the minute

Hold yourself
.
Learn to be uncomfortable and you will finally kick food addiction in the teeth!

So much work to do to get these thighs to the power house I want them to be!

When I gained all my weight, the majority went to my bottom half. Then again I’ve always had thick thighs 🤷🏻‍♀️with all the lovely dimples.

This is my body and I love it. I also know I have lots more to go! There is about a 9mths and 30lb difference here and who knows how many inches.

I ate bread today.... Gasp!! I've recently been convicted of posting my "healthy" food pics and pretending to love them!! Truth is that I'm hanging up the DIEt mentality!! My feeds on social media are over crowded with the latest and "greatest" program, shake or plan to the point I'm exhausted!! I'm guilty as charged but I've come to the realization that we make it so much more complicated than it is!!! I'm not saying giving up our bad habits, greed and love for food is easy but if I can make one thing stick in your mind it would be to ditch the rules! Eat when and what your body is calling for, stop when you are politely full and move a little! I will no longer be the food police and try and make you think that I'm loving my broccoli (which I sometimes do) when I really want a piece of bread!! No food shaming here!! Yes today I ate bread and it was good! 💃🏼

If you look closely, someone bit into this onion. It was my 18 month old son. My gorgeous, smart, adorable toddler changed my life. And my body.

Between 2013 and my wedding in 2015, I lost 18+kg by following a low carb diet. I was however, not increasing my fat intake and sometimes passed on the cheese and still drank my coffee with low fat milk. So losing the weight was hard and I was always hungry but I kept going and I was rewarded.

When my pregnancy test turned positive though, my hunger increased and the low carb, low fat, high protein lifestyle that I was following was just not sustainable wanting to eat the contents of a grocery store every two hours.

I gained 20kg during pregnancy, then after my son was born, I lost 4kg over the next 17 months. I tried my old fad diets, I tried cutting carbs again (didn't do high fat), I tried new fad diets and diet supplements. My weight wasn't going anywhere and some weeks the number on the scale even increased. I was ready to go see my doctor for more drastic steps but here I am, a month into keto and intermittent fasting and I have lost 4kg without feeling hungry, without feeling deprived and without any cravings.

I see now that if I hadn't been so scared of fats, I could've been much further and much healthier much sooner. I am now a keto convert and trust #ketoforlife. It resonates with what I have always believed: #eatwhenhungry and I have tons of energy.

Starting the day with a salad.  Since taking back my health I've noticed with the right fuel I'm not hungry for my first meal till around 11:30am. I try to fast 2 days a week and I'm finding I feel so much better. .

It has been shown that when people are served larger portions of food, they do not respond to increased levels of fullness, and basically ignore their satiety levels.

We eat food because it is there, we can see it, we can smell it, and because it tastes so good.

While the Tayto, Maltesers, popcorn and noodles can and should be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet, it must be emphasised that they should be consumed in moderation with appropriate portion sizes.

Buy smaller size packets of crisps, buy fun-size chocolate bars, buy a scoop of popcorn rather than a bucket, try half servings from your local takeaway.

You’ll still enjoy your food, and the best part is you’ll hardly even notice the difference because of the automatic nature of eating.

As I am on this process of Intuitive Eating, things have been changing. I am now - after many, many years - able to identify when I am hungry as opposed to just wanting to eat. I can also identify what I want to eat - and despite considerable push back from my partner, am continuing to eat mainly raw. The challenge that is looming largest at present is *when* to eat. I am still stuck in the mindset that I “ought” only to be hungry 3 times a day, at set times. While OA is incredibly useful as a tool to overcoming my eating disorders, trying a suggested meal plan of only 3 meals per day with no snacks, set my progress back. It resulted in binges because I was hungry when I “wasn’t allowed” to be. So rather than just satisfying my hunger, I binged. Yesterday, a mid afternoon snack sent my thoughts down this path, but with help from meditation and my wonderful nephew, Tom, I dismissed the mindset.
Which brings me back to this meal. I was hungry, really hungry. I knew exactly what would satisfy that hunger. BUT it was only 11.30 and therefore a ‘wrong’ time to eat. I went ahead anyway and had it. It might mean I need a mid afternoon snack, but I want to fulfil my body’s needs, when they occur, in a way that supports my health.
