It might sound crazy but there is actually a group of foods that cause fear and intimidation to people. We used to be part of those people who used to avoid anything that contained sugar, fats and especially if it was store-bought.

Whether your fear food is,a donut, an ice-cream, pizza, butter, cake or even cream sauces, there's only one proved way of getting over it: exposure! Stay with us... If you have been avoiding these foods for years and feel restricted, you will find these helpful:

1.MAKE A LIST OF YOUR FEAR FOODS: spread them out throughout the week; our suggestion is to have 1 fear food once a week and see how it goes. But, it is important to include it in anyway even if it's a bite or two.

2. PLAN AHEAD: schedule your treat. Frequent exposure will seem quite intimidating at first, but keep going. Exposure to a type of food will "force" the brain to understand that these foods are no longer dangerous.

3. RECORD YOUR EMOTIONS: write down your feelings and emotions when eating a fear food; does it make you feel anxious, guilty, stressed out, etc. You might be surprised that you will actually feel good and accomplished something you 've been scared of.

We are not saying that you should have calorie dense foods every day, but on the other hand do not avoid completely.

Whole Foods and healthy foods are good for your body (and you should have them everyday), but calorie-dense foods are good for your soul! 🙆🏻
Enjoy your treat without guilt every now and then, 'cause that's what is life all about: BALANCE!

My 5th and my most recent thing I’ve taken on is to stop punishing yourself. And actually just be kind to yourself. You are as valuable to you as your friends and family are. If you want the donut, eat the damn donut. Life is way too short to punish yourself for something you enjoy. Every single day I hear women come into the coffee shop I work at, look at the pastries we offer, and then turn to me and say, “Oh, I should be good”, “I ran today, so I get to have a scone”, “I’ll be bad and take a raspberry bar”, “All of these are tempting, but my summer body wouldn’t appreciate it”. QUEENS, HEAR ME OUT. Food isn’t a moral issue- a donut isn’t good or bad. There aren’t bad foods. Give your body some credit. If your body wants a muffin, give your body the muffin. Listening intuitively to when you’re full, hungry, craving salt, sugar, red meat, raw spinach, etc.- THAT’S where it’s at. Your body knows what it needs. Telling your body it can’t have the pizza just makes your body want the pizza even more, which will lead to binging later.  If you allow yourself to eat what you want, your body will realize that it doesn’t need to binge, because you can have that pizza whenever. 
And, I know, you’re thinking that if you eat the pizza now, then you’ll never stop eating the pizza, but NO, soon your body will say, “nah, man, I’ve had enough pizza. Let’s eat some soup instead”. You don’t need to be afraid of the pastry shelf. I promise 🍨🍰🥧🍦🍩
I can’t type all my feelings about intuitive eating in this one post but GOOGLE IT or MESSAGE ME or FOLLOW @mindfulcounseling and LEARN. It’ll change your life and habits and EVERYTHANG.

Just being present during the day and focusing on the task at hand helps release me of the feeling of being overwhelmed. It is not easy but it allows me to have a more fulfilling day. This morning, after a night of getting 3 hours of sleep, I got up with the sun to take a sweet girl to @pipsoriginal for her birthday! (Getting paid to eat my fave donuts?? Yes please!) •

It’s been a hard couple of body positivity days for me, and I’ve been feeling in a funk. My head has definitely NOT been in the game and I’ve been feeling so uncomfortable in my skin. •

Today she and I were reminiscing on the 13 months that she and I have known each other. We were marveling at how different life was for both of us a year ago, and I commended her on her tremendous growth. I am sooooo proud of all my kids, but especially this girl. •

She looked at me and said, “You know. I’ve always liked you, but I like you even more now.” I asked for clarification and she said, “Well, you’ve helped me so much with my eating disorder and I can see how much you have conquered yours too. I like you more now because you’re so much more full of life.”

WOW. Wake. up. call! I had gotten so absorbed in feeling like crap about all I had “lost” when I gave up my “fit girl” identity that I had forgotten what I had gained: my life. •

It never ceases to amaze me that, even though I’m supposed to be the one teaching my youth, they teach me so much every day. I sit here so much happier and grateful than I started out this morning. Maybe it has something to do with delicious donuts and caffeine, but I have a feeling it has so much more to do with my perspective. •
Letting go of your idea of perfection can be so hard, but letting yourself be free instead is so, so, SOOO worth it! You got dis 💪🏻

How was your weekend eats?! Yup i ate rice this whole weekend and that’s my WEAKNESS!!! Whats crazy is that i don’t even have the cravings for sweet stuff like pie, ice cream etc. i crave weird gummies lol! But the thing about this whole weightloss thing is that YOU have to control it, don’t let it control YOU. We aren’t always going to be eating left greens and char boiled chicken. Some days i’m gonna want a burger, somedays im gonna want a pizza. & other days i’ll want a nice salad. and it’s OKAY. You can have those things in MODERATION. When we make something off limits or only for a “cheat meal”, it becomes all that more enticing and hard to not feel guilty when you do enjoy it. Enjoy a cinnamon roll or donut with your kids. Don’t live a life of guilt, punishing yourself when you indulge. Take care of yourself and allow yourself to enjoy life! No, I don’t eat sweets every day or eat the whole pan cuz that’s not taking very good care of my body, but I do enjoy a cinnamon roll here & there with my kids, and I don’t feel guilty about it one bit! Enjoy life & find joy in the little things✨♥️
