I took this photo in our garden last year, right before we had to move out for months of renovating. We didn’t anticipate being away for so long but we’re slowly starting to move back in and remember what our life was like in the home we’d created for ourselves. Our daily routine had been replaced with something that wasn’t made for us and it feels so great to be back “home” now. I had no idea how much of a homebody I really was!
Feeling so grateful right now.
Well WOW ❤️❤️❤️ My Swimmers will also be available to buy by the metre on a lovely dressmaking cotton. Lovely @roisinmuldoon made this super cute dress from it. Ain’t she clever?! I’m in Montreal at the moment (which is AMAZING) but it’ll be available to buy next week when I’m back. #swimmers#synchro#dressmaking#mccallspatterns
Have you heard of this great new Insta challenge called #sewingleftovers ? It's the brainchild of @shaunimagnifique and Shauni is challenging us all to use up our scraps! I absolutely love using up scraps so I have put together a blog post all about ideas for different ways you could use up scraps to take part in #sewingleftovers The scrap piece of fabric I used for this t-shirt was too small even for just the front so I hacked the side seams of the pattern into this diagonal shape. Loads more ideas in my blog post - link in profile!
Well a day spent hidden in the box room with my trusty little sewing machine was well spent. If I’d actually finished it. And it actually fit 🤣🙈. Managed to just about squeeze myself into it. Note to self, check the measurements properly and DO NOT think the same pattern maker uses the same measurements for a different design. At least I have a bit of a rainbow dress 😁🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💗. Now, can I loose an inch or two before Saturday?🤔
A wonderful example of the beautiful dressmaking by Ghanaian designer Naast Dunstable Tordzro. You can find this alongside a short video made by her husband Gameli Tordzro, in the cultural connections room in the Kelvingrove Gallery, Glasgow. #dressmaking#ghana#kelvingrovemuseum#glasgow
Such a fabulous day sewing, gossiping and laughing with these gorgeous ladies today! We were all actually pretty productive on the sewing front too which is a bonus! It’s true what they say - sewing friends are the best 😘😘😘 PS - @seasaltstitches @sew_sleep_deprived @thimblebee we missed you!
In love with this #fabric 😍. We uploaded this #peachskin fabric today, "Pink Paisley" on our site... it is so soft & drapey.😍 This is our own #kimono design that we self drafted for our "Sew your Own Kimono" class starting on Tuesday at the @cabbagepatchpub. I'm actually going to wear this as a dressing gown... I've been wearing it at home with a matching head scarf... my husband has been telling me I look like someone from the 70's, which I'm happy about as love 70's clothes! Head to our #newin category to see the fabric. (Link in bio) 😀💃
Instagram: Sunny photo of me looking wistfully off into the distance in my #memade top in front of a pretty flowerbed.
Reality: sitting in purple pollen and having to spend the day with a purple bum. I also managed to get grass stains and mud splatters on the skirt today. I can’t have nice things 😂
This was the toile for my #tillyandthebuttons#sewingfrancoise dress. I like to wear my toiles at least once so I can work out what I like and don’t like about the fit. From wearing this today I have found out three things:
1) Those arm holes are tiny!
2) As you can see in the photo it rides up above the bust. I’m not sure why though. Possibly to do with the armholes being so small which pulls the fabric...?
3) Don’t make tops out of thick quilting cotton and then wear it on a very hot day. Just don’t.
I hope you have all had wonderful Sundays and if it has been good weather you’ve managed make the most of it! I also hope you were more successful than me at keeping your clothes clean today...
How sweet is is this #sevenberry cotton lawn? I mean, seriously, the navy background specked with white, red and royal blue dots is just waiting to be made into a lovely garment. We see pajamas, blouses and lined fit and flare dresses. The perfect fabric for your summer sewing!
