I haven’t been able to work on any painting but I had sometime to work on my drawings. This is one of the 21 day challenges exercises. My left hand in different styles. I tried realistic (need a bit more work), cartoon and cubism (which I never done before so you can see I didn’t even know what I was doing ahaha) ready for the next challenge. #draw21days#drawing#instadraw#drawinagain#pencildrawing#learningthroughplay#havingfun
Drawing Challenge Day #8 . Shadows! We were given a reference sheet with 6 faces (swipe left to see it unmarked) and had to draw in the facial shadows according to which direction the light was coming from (represented by the spheres above each face). I used pencil and a blending stump. I got the two outside bottom ones backwards. Oops.
This took me awhile and I almost conked out after five, because it was getting a bit tedious, but I learned a lot, and I can see how you’d get much better with practice on this one.
And I recognized two photography lighting things: the Rembrandt lighting triangle on the dark-side cheek of the second guy, and the butterfly lighting (with the dark butterfly-shaped shadow beneath the nose) on the first guy. #draw21days
Drawing Challenge Day #7 -That’s-Actually-Day-#1000 . And it’s not even done! Nope. Day 7’s challenge was to draw what we like, what we’re passionate about — either a subject or a genre.
“What? That’s it? WHAT??!” <— that’s me. I was all, like, “Are you crazy? That’s too overwhelming! I don’t know! There’s too many things! It’s too early to cut us loose like that!! Noo!! TELL me what to do!” *shortcircuit* boom! 🤯
So. I did nothing. Thought about it lots. Wrote it down in to-do lists constantly. But couldn’t decide. Procrastinated. Doodled circles in my notebooks instead. And colored them in. For a month. (Or something like that.)
Then, yesterday, I thought to myself, “Well. This is stupid. Let’s just get on with it, shall we? Since, apparently, circles filled with color is your thing right now, let’s just run with that and move on.” Yup. That’s my passion at the moment. Coloring circles. It’s weird and completely out of context with a course that’s supposed to be about learning to draw. But, whatever. Onwards.
Here are a couple of my circles. One done with water-colour pencils, and the other just regular pencils. And a final notebook comment (that I ignored, just like all the others written before it). #draw21days
The drawing prompt for today was draw a monster. There are so many directions to go with that but I was very inspired by a story I read on Reddit where a late night orderly in a mental hospital was called to any empty room where there were complaints of loud noises. He said looking through the window he saw some dark with a long face and cone shaped head that seemed to radiate a feeling of hatred and extreme negativity. Things like that get stuck in my head and often linger on the edges of my subconscious. #draw21days#sketchbook#spookydoodle#nightmares#demons#graphite
Day 2 challenge wasn’t as easy. Maybe I’m breaking my head trying to make it complicated when it is such a simple thing. Ready to see the solution and move on to the next challenge #draw21days#drawing#instadraw#drawingagain
