I loved “Homegoing” by Yaa Gyasi. I wasn’t sure how I would like the different perspectives that are literally every chapter but Ms. Gyasi did a wonderful job tying all the stories together. Making me care for each character despite the fact that they would only have one chapter(they would be mentioned again but from their children’s perspective). It takes place during the slave trade and colonialism, so be prepared for some gruesome parts. My seventeen yr old self would be ashamed of twenty-eight yr old me. 5🌟s. “The Hate U Give” was amazing. It’s raw, powerful, and unfortunately the circumstances are very much happening right now. There were times when I got teary-eyed because obvi. Read it!
