The night before our wedding, @martocabeachgarden surprised us at our rehearsal dinner by bringing a Rosca de Reyes. For those of you who don’t know, Rosca de Reyes is a pastry that is eaten on January 6th, to celebrate Día de los Reyes, or the day the three kings arrived to see baby Jesus. In this pastry, little “babies” are hidden throughout, and the person (or people in this case) who find the baby Jesus in their slice will have good luck for that year, but also are in charge of making tamales for Día de la Candelaria (February 2nd). When my two little cousins and my dad found a baby in their slice, we laughed, knowing we would never see any tamales from them. But my Nana, being always faithful to her word, sent us two dozen tamales all the way from Arizona. Anyone who has ever had her tamales, know they are worth their weight in gold!! Thank you, Nana! I’ll try not to eat them all in one night! #DiaDeLosReyes#RoscaDeReyes#DiaDeLaCandelaria#Tamales
Viva El Folklore, an international, non-profit dance group, performed at UVU to celebrate Día de los Reyes Jan. 13.
With the women dressed in beautiful, colorful gowns and the men in handsome, mariachi themed outfits wearing black felt sombreros, one felt as if the culture of Mexico came alive through the music and dancing that was displayed on stage.

First, I would like to say THANK YOU to all my friends who helped me sponsor 10 of these amazing kids over the weekend! I feel absolutely blessed to have been able to see first hand the happiness in each of their faces with our gifts and donations! I picked this quote because it described exactly what I saw in those kids and in all those people who have been doing this for years! They are heroes in my book and extremely special human beings that make the time to show so much love and commitment for others and ask for nothing in return, truly selfless! I was honored to be there with them on Saturday! ❤️ #actsofkindness#spreadlove#mexico#loveformexico#childrenoftheworld
