Es una condición médica en la cual el cuerpo tiene que trabajar el doble para que los niveles de azúcar estén dentro de un rango normal (70-100 mg/dl). .

El páncreas tiene que  liberar una mayor cantidad de Insulina, para poder mantener los niveles de azúcar en un rango adecuado.

Llega un momento en el que el páncreas se fatiga de trabajar de más, y disminuye o para de producir Insulina, ocasionando una elevación de azúcar en la sangre, con posterior desarrollo de diabetes.

En otras palabras, si controlamos la Resistencia a la Insulina tempranamente, podemos prevenir la diabetes.

This was breakfast - lower carb and higher protein than I used to eat as a kid. 4 egg omelette (one with yolk, using up my Whit's after the apple tart recipe used all the yolks) with a ruby grapefruit salad and Australian fingerlime salad, and a slice of wholegrain toast. .

If you eat fewer than 50g of carbs per day you will probably go into ketosis. Instead of metabolising glucose for fuel your body mobilises fat and protein to make glucose. The breakdown (oxidation) of fatty acids creates ketones. .
.
Ketogenic diets are proven treatments for epilepsy 😮, and are used for weight loss. You lose more weight initially, but long term it is similar to other 'diets'. A couple of things to note: 🌸 Avoid ketogenic diets while pregnant, if you are taking SGLT2 inhibitors (dapagliflozin, empagliflozin), or if you have type 1 diabetes. Ketones are probably bad for foetal brain development. You may develop excessive ketones with SGLT2 inhibitors or T1D.
🌸 Keto diets are necessarily higher in fat. Make sure you get the healthy fats otherwise studies show you will increase your risk of heart disease 🌸 Ketogenic diets cause water loss, and it can be hard to get enough fibre, so constipation is a common problem

My advice: pick a diet you enjoy and can stick to. That is the one that will work best. For me, I love fruit, dairy and cake too much to go keto.

Devin Alexander demonstrated how to make this sandwich at the presentation of her new book of diabetes-friendly recipes,"You Can Have It!," at Melissa's Produce.

She made the pesto from basil and carrot greens, which she blended with nonfat Greek yogurt and olive oil and flavored with garlic, Parmesan cheese and lemon juice. 
__

In addition to grilled boneless skinless chicken breast, the sandwich, which was made in a baguette, had arugula, sliced tomato, very thin slices red onion, and strips of roasted sweet red pepper. 
__

Although Devin developed her recipes according to the guidelines of the American Diabetes Association, she wrote that the recipes are not just for people with diabetes, but for
anyone interested in nutritious meals and fitness.

This is the sauce that Devin Alexander uses to flavor her Thai shrimp flatbread pizza. 
She demonstrated how to make this pizza at the presentation of her new book of diabetes-friendly recipes,"You Can Have It!," at Melissa's Produce.

For the pizza base, Devin uses whole wheat lavash, sometimes sold as Armenian flatbread, which she crisps in the oven. Then she tops it with the sauce, grilled shrimp, carrot, green onion and cucumber.

Devin makes the sauce from natural peanut butter, light coconut milk, garlic, ginger, green onion, vegetable or chicken broth, lime juice and low sodium soy sauce. 
__

For her book Devin developed her recipes according to the guidelines of the American Diabetes Association. She emphasized that the recipes are not just for people with diabetes, but for

High fatigue day today. Despite declaring that I wasn’t getting out of bed and I was sleeping all day I got up, got dressed and went for a walk and Craig found these cute little guys.

Apple "fries" with creamy peanut butter dip 
This might not look like the most glamorous dessert but we loved it! All of us at lunch at Melissa's Produce couldn't stop eating it! 
The dip was made with Greek yogurt, peanut butter and a touch of sweetener. It was served with sweet apple sticks and together they make a tasty, satisfying snack. 
The recipe is from "You Can Have It!" by Devin Alexander and was part of the lunch at her book presentation a few days ago at Melissa's Produce. Devin wrote the book according to the nutritional guidelines of the American Diabetes Association.

All positives and my psychiatrist and doctor appointments yesterday. I am changing my anxiety medication (with medication assistance and help from my support team) as what I’m on needs top up medication. I’ve uncovered that I disassociate around authorative figures speaking to me in a firm manner so I can work on that. 
My dietary and movement plan are working and I have lost 900g in a little under two weeks despite the handicap of medications and medical conditions. 
I do not have diabetes but I will continue on a diabetes friendly diet as a preventative as I am in a high risk category and 44. My other bloods were all clear. So the changes I have made are positive and working. I have a new thing to work on with my psychologist to keep moving forward. 
My VOG mask worked well at filtering out the paint and glue as so forth smells at the doctor’s surgery as it’s their new fee Ashley fitted out building and my physio is about to move to, so no more feeling like I’ve been punched in the face. I chose a non threatening model since masks are such a rarity in my area and it was fairly comfortable for an hour and a half.

I wore SHORTS this afternoon for a bit, and felt slimmer than I have since having kids. I worked on the garden and found myself stronger than EVER, all THANKS to the programs I’ve been doing and the friends I’ve made along the way!

Seriously, ever since having kiddos I’ve been self conscious in shorts... not THIS summer! ☀️ .
🙃I’m not saying I’m perfect. I’m not saying I LOVE my legs yet. I’m just saying I feel better than the past 6 years of wearing shorts. That’s a win, don’t you think?! 🎉🎉🎉 .

Grilled chicken sandwich with pesto & roasted red pepper

This sandwich was part of our lunch at Devin Alexander's presentation of her new book of diabetes-friendly recipes,"You Can Have It!," at Melissa's Produce. 
Devin makes the pesto from both basil and carrot greens, blended with nonfat Greek yogurt and olive oil and flavored with garlic, Parmesan cheese and lemon juice. 
In addition to grilled boneless skinless chicken breast, the sandwich has arugula, sliced tomato, very thin slices red onion, and strips of roasted sweet red pepper. 
Devin developed her recipes according to the guidelines of the American Diabetes Association. In her book Devin made the point that the recipes are not just for people with diabetes, but for
anyone interested in nutritious meals and fitness. 
Devin knows from personal experience how challenging it can be to follow a regimen. She lost 
70 pounds and kept it off for nearly 30 years! Eventually she became the chef on NBC's "The
Biggest Loser." __

I helped in the garden class, which focused this week’s lesson on Earth Day, and also helped to transplant melons from the greenhouse. I then got to join the cooking class where we prepped and roasted veggies from the school garden, which the kids all worked to grow. Yesterday we enjoyed a lunch from Devin Alexander's new book of diabetes-friendly recipes,"You Can Have It!," which she presented at Melissa's Produce.

Devin wrote the book in association with the American Diabetes Association. 
In her book Devin made the point that the recipes are not just for people with diabetes, but for
anyone interested in nutritious meals and fitness. 
Devin knows from personal experience how challenging it can be to follow a regimen. She lost

Our lunch menu:

__ * Parmesan garlic squash "fries" - made from butternut squash baked with garlic and cheese 
__
* Dijon roasted Brussels sprouts
__ * Thai lime quinoa salad 
__
* Grilled chicken sandwich with pesto & roasted red pepper

* Java London broil - with a coffee rub
_ * Apple "fries" with creamy peanut butter dip, made with Greek yogurt 
__
The first recipe we plan to make is the dessert, which is also the simplest. The apple "fries" are
apples cut in thin sticks, served with a dip made of Greek yogurt, peanut butter and a touch of
sweetener. This dessert may not sound glamorous but it was delicious.

Here is some experience I learned from someone who had diabetes, my dad. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, he would go somewhere called dialysis and he would have red fluid taken out of him  to clean it and put it back in but he would become weak. He also had trouble when and where to use a restroom and he had toes cut of from one foot. What we initially considered to e an Indian 🍑 turned out to be a #Loquat (or #pinyin in modern Chinese). It’s native to ⛰ region of 🇨🇳 , but it’s also commonly found in 🇰🇷, 🇯🇵, hilly areas of 🇮🇳 and 🇵🇭 (but also in countries we haven’t explored yet:🇱🇰 and 🇵🇰🤗). And its fruits are so very versatile!
