Our impatience and unwillingness to pursue contentment or to wait on the Lord to provide is often revealing of the secret idols we are still clinging to.
We're bored so we give in to lust and gluttony.
We're lonely so we compromise, uniting ourselves to those who don't love God or care about his Word.
We're sad so we give ourselves over to bitterness and hateful wrath.
We're jealous so we allow covetousness to rule our hearts, and we end up doing things we swore we'd never do to get that thing (or person) we think we must have.
Once we recognize our sin, we still trust the lie of believing we have to take our repentance into our own hands by wallowing in feelings of guilt, shame and self-pity. So rather than running back into the arms of Christ, we run to negative self-talk, acts of penance, and even isolating ourselves from the very people God has given us as a means of help and loving accountability.
Our hearts are so quick to convince us that we *need* this thing (or person), or we *must* have it in order to survive. This is the greatest lie of all. It denies the very identity God has given us as his child. Because of him, we never have to "take matters into our own hands." Because of him, we can turn from those temptations and immerse ourselves in the love and grace of Christ. Because he loved us with so great a love that he sent his own Son as a sacrifice for our sins, we can have a certain assurance that his plans for us are good. #deltona#beholdingandbecoming#westvolusia#christiancounseling#soulcare
#DidYouKnow ?: Your other teeth aren’t the only things that could be damaged by impacted wisdom teeth. Cysts can form around them, and without extraction, these cysts can damage the nerves in your jaw. They can also cause sinus pressure and congestion. #WisdomToothWednesday
