2.BARBELL FRONT RAISES = This exercise targets your front deltoid.

HOW TO PERFORM IT = Make sure not to choose heavy weight in which you can't control the movement while raising the bar. Try to keep your hand straight while raising the bar to make sure you are including front deltoid muscle and try crossing little above your shoulders.

TARGET MUSCLE = FRONT DELTOID

3.FACEPULL = Face pull is one of the important exercises to target your rear deltoid muslce so make sure you never miss it.

HOW TO PERFORM IT = As shown in the video pull the rope close to your face and hold it for a second to give tension on rear deltoid muslce.

TARGET MUSCLE = REAR DELTOID

NOTE =  Never rush in performing any exercise. Focus on the right momentum wherein you feel the mind the muscle connection in each contraction and stretch movement.

Seated front plate raise and seated front plate corkscrew.

Sit upright on a bench and grab a single weight plate with one hand on each side of the plate - similar to a car steering wheel and your legs are far apart possible. Hands are hang straight down to the floor.

Video 1
Raise the plate in front and over your shoulder until you can see the floor and Keep your arms straight. Pause for a few seconds, then lower it in a controlled and slow motion. Return to the starting position and repeat.

Video 2
Raise the plate in an arc motion - to the front and over your shoulder - twisting your upper body to the side while seated. Return to the starting position and repeat the motion but target the other side of the body.

Today was an upper back focus with emphasis on the posterior (rear) and the medial (side/lateral) deltoids.

The key is to keep it simple so that the client can understand the cues and the execution pattern.

If you understand the physiology and biomechanics of the muscle, then it’s easy to figure out how to manipulate a machine to that profile!  All we did today was take a very simple cable lat pull down and match it up to the upper back and the rear deltoids.

You can see that the directional force compliments the working muscle nicely!  The profile of the exercise adapts to the profile of the muscle, not the other way around!

5 shoulder dislocations, a couple of sublaxations, a Hills Sach lesion and a Latarjet procedure (open surgery) locking the shoulder permanently into just 20-30 degrees external rotation for stability.  Interesting I recently had an osteo (definitely realise all osteos are different) say to me that he wanted to get me able to comfortably push weight overhead again. Pretty sure the whole point of the surgery was to lock the shoulder down with screws into a stable position that doesn't allow full flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, internal and external rotation. 
Bottom line is self mastery is key to managing injuries, whether they be short term injuries or permanent issues that must be acknowledged and worked around. You must learn, take ownership, know what feels good and what doesnt and understand why. Are they things you can improve or things that must be worked around? This takes self awareness, discipline, educations and some trial and error but teaches you a lot about your resolve. Anothet set of hands can be great, but don't get caught up in the web of relying on health professionals for everything.

They all are, training frequency basically all comes down to preference and your lifestyle. If it was a perfect world I would be in the gym every day, but I don’t always have the time to go.

To achieve the most optimal amount of muscle growth you should be training each muscle group 2 times per week, and to progressively add weight and volume to your workouts.

So for someone who only has 2-3 days per week that they can train, they should be doing longer full body workouts to make sure they’re getting enough volume working on each muscle group.

I personally like to workout in the 5-7 days per week range because I like to go to the gym and prefer having faster workouts, and to focus on only a few muscle groups depending on that day (back and bi’s, chest triceps shoulders, and legs).

I prefer this to the smith press and the seated barbell press because it activates the bodies stabilisers and recruits more muscles overall! For those looking to take their shoulders workout up a notch, I definitely recommend programming these in!!
