Did you know dehydrated skin can be more dangerous for acne than oily skin? If you have excess oil, but dry, flaky skin, it might be time to visit your dermatologist to see what you can do to treat it!
1. Alcohol can trigger or significantly worsen psoriasis!
2. Alcohol disrupts the delicate balance of the gut and skin microbiomes
3. Alcohol triggers inflammation throughout the body including the skin, and can lead to premature wrinkles and sagging.
4. Alcohol dehydrates the skin, leaving your complexion dull and dry with more visible lines. •
Consider swapping out your daily glass of wine for a serving of purple grapes instead. 🍇
Aloe is a bit of a superhero.... especially for your skin. It is brilliantly hydrating even for the most sensitive and acne prone skin without clogging pores. Aloe also is great at reducing bacteria and soothing down any redness caused by inflammation.
How to use it? Aloe is actually quite easy to add to face masks and cleansers especially if you have a plant at home. Cut a leaf off, wash it thoroughly, peel the outer parter and mix the cooling gel into your skincare of choice.
Facial oils seem to be a hot topic lately. Picking one that will be perfect for your skin can be overwhelming.
1. Lighter oils that absorb faster
2. Oily/Combo skin only use once a day in the evening.
3. Dry skin can use a facial oil twice a day.
4. Apply facial oils after your toner and before your moisturizer
Facial oils to look for:
1. Jojoba Oil
2. Squalane Oil
3. CBD Oil
4. Rosehip Seed Oil
Facial Oils to avoid:
1. Mineral Oil
2. Coconut Oil

In one of @aliciayoon212 live stories she mentioned the brand @lagomkorea as being unique for their hero ingredient dermaflux, which is based on a nobel prize winning science. Dermaflux supposedly plumps up your cells with water and the moisture stays there until the cell dies. 😱 This appealed to me greatly because I have dehydrated skin and constantly have to “refill” the moisture after each wash. Exhausting, I know. Hello 7-step method! 🙌🏼
Looking forward to seeing if this enables me to maintain hydration long-term. 🙏🏻
One thing I’ve noticed with mists is after spraying them, instead of hydrating my skin they seem to suck any pre-existing hydration out of my skin and evaporate it into the air. I end up dryer than before i sprayed. 😒 I haven’t experienced that so far with this so i have high hopes. I know a lot of you are mist-lovers, which brands do you like most?

The texture of this new vitamin e gel cream is just perfect for these hot hot days! (Let’s hope there’s many more to come). It’s super light weight, oil free and feels so fresh and hydrating on the skin. 48 hours hydration and 100% vegan = Summer ready ☀️#tbsstar#thebodyshop
The two products I could never live without in my entire life! Mascara and Brows.
I’m on my third ELF Brow Wax and Powder due and my second Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara.
I rate these two products 100/10. The brow wax is incredibly easy to glide onto your brows with an angled brush and you’ll never cause a hot mess with it. It’s also abnormally inexpensive. And my new go to Mascara pushes my lashes upto the Gods! Stila has most definitely taken centre stage for me when it comes to my Mascara collection. ✨✨✨
And for those who are wondering about the #Tatcha Silk Canvas primer! My concealer and powder looked incredibly smooth on top of the primer today, although I wouldn’t call it oil proof for those oily skins out there like myself. But for short-term wear id most certainly recommend for those who want a smooth AF looking base. The products glided on like a dream and they looked beautiful on top all day long. I’m going to give it another red hot shot with my #fentibeauty foundation this weekend to truly see if it’s worth the $70.00 😉😉😉
Holy Grail Product : @cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch
This has got to be my all time favorite product to use for my pimples! The hydrocolloid patch is amazing at protecting open pimples and getting the remaining pus out! It also helps me with my picking /scratching problem as a barrier so I don't further damage my skin / create post-inflamation.
It is transparent so it's a great all day cover up without people noticing it. Just a heads up, your skin will need to be dry and clean for the patches to stick on tightly. Otherwise the patch loses its stickiness. .

Here’s my AM routine using ONE product & why this may or may not work for you. For people with dehydrated skin, you’d need a more hydrating moisturizer in the morning & then you’d top it off with a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30+. I try to use the least amount of products as possible because of my sensitive skin. The @aveenous protect & hydrate lotion keeps my skin moisturized and protected with a whopping SPF of 60 ☀️
I also ditched using a facial cleanser & toner in the morning and just wash my face with water in the mornings and leave the cleansing for the PM after a long day. Did you know that cleansing our face is the most damaging thing we do daily to our skin? But for some of us it must be done atleast 1-2 times/day depending on our skin type!
Do you want to see my PM skincare routine? It’s a bit more complex 😇
Let's talk about dry skin. Dry skin is a skin type, unlike dehydrated skin which is a skin condition. You can have dry skin and also be have dehydrated skin. Dry skin appears flaky and feels rough. Unlike dehydrated skin which is lacking water, dry skin is lacking oil.
1. You want to incorporate an oil based lotion into your regimen to help nourish the skin and retain moisture.
2. Cleansers should be gentle and soap-free.
3. The water you use to cleanse your face should be lukewarm or cool. Hot water tends to dry out the skin more. 📸@modernfloorlamps

Sleeping Mask : Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream
I typically don't use sleeping masks - only when my skin is acting up and/or feels dry. This Klairs cream instantly calms any redness/irritation. The texture isn't super heavy which is a plus so it sinks into my skin nicely after the many thin watery layers. A little goes a long way so definitely worth the price ($25 for ~1oz)

#1empty1newbie ! Hyaluronic Acid Serum Edition! So, it’s no secret here I would bathe in hyaluronic acid if I could. I’d hate to part with it and be forced to devolve into a lizard person. My skin is highly dehydrated so I use a hyaluronic serum twice a day. I think my antibiotics may be helping regulate my skin because it’s leaning more towards dry with dehydration instead of Sonora Desert. I went without it for a few weeks as an experiment because I’ve heard HA can be irritating and drying for some people and let me tell you- I am not that person. Give me all the HA. I finished the First Aid Beauty two months or so ago and have been using the indeed Labs one for a few weeks.
#Oldie - #FirstAidBeauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum- This sells for $45 CAD for 1 OZ. It contains HA, peptides and colloidal oatmeal so not only is it hydrating, but also soothing. This serum has a texture different that a lot of HAs I’ve used (like a certain budget one....) as it is not sticky or liquid-y. It has a more viscous texture that when you put on your skin, sinks in immediately. And it just feels wet. I doubt I’ll ever go back to the other style of HAs after this. I will say though I went through this way too fast (like just over 2 months) to rationalize this price.
#Newbie - #IndeedLabs Hydraluron- This sells for $23 CAD for 1 OZ. Essentially I decided to try this after Caroline Hiron’s various recommendations of this to find a cheaper version of the FAB one to make my usage more sustainable. This is a much simpler ingredient list than the FAB and it’s star ingredients are HA and Red Sea Algae. But, while the ingredient list is different, the texture is exactly the same. Not sticky, immediate sinking in, same viscous gel. Just lovely. I’ve been using this for a few weeks so while I’m still working on it, I’m happy so far.
You couldn’t go wrong with either, in my opinion. So, have you tried these? Are they a no for you? Are they on your wishlist?
Busy start to the week?
Apply, inhale and relax with our Super Nourishing Lavender bodybutter.
Guaranteed to leave your skin moisturised leaving it feeling soft and supple.
Not to mention to gentle relaxing scent of Lavender, perfect for unwinding after a long hard day. You deserve a little pamper time 💆🏽
Does Coachella weekend have your skin looking dull and feeling tight?! Your skin might be dehydrated. When the skin is dehydrated you are lacking water in the skin. Two main causes of Dehydration during Coachella weekend could be lack of water and dry air.
