“ Gracias @boxfit_311

Man, today was so good I needed this. First day in a while I’ve felt great mentally and physically. Brick by brick, I’m building myself to be better inside and most importantly, outside of the gym. As @larrywheels said, “I’m a work in progress.” 🙏🏻 •Deadlift 625x1 hook grip (first time hook grip in 6 weeks) •Deficit deadlift 585x2 and 545x3.

First max effort day. Beltless pause squats are slow but there's no sticking point (355, 385, 405). Definitely more in the tank for next week. I'm BAD at bench, feet up for 250. Deadlift can be built without deadlifting. Hit 455 beltless from a big ass deficit without seriously pulling in probably a year.
Modifying the program as needed. Bench I'm probably going to change to all competition style. Specificity is king unless you have a specific weakness or technical error you are addressing. Which I don't. I'm just seriously weak at pressing. Beltless pause squats are working on proprioception of depth, rate of force production, and starting tight. Big deficit beltless deadlifts make it harder to find tension in the bottom, and make the rep much longer, helping teach the sensation of grinding.
Week 8, Day 2 (25 Apr 2018)
5 x 3 #deadlift @ 190, 197.5, 202.5, 192.5, 175
I’d been feeling sluggish all day and was not planning on deadlifting, let alone going this heavy. But @moc_sean is wise and good, and he told me to give these a run. The result: Not only heavier than last week, but also much smoother. Third set a 3-rep PR @ a solid RPE >8. @murderofcrowsbarbellclub @barbellsandcats @nthomas90 @cat_lifts #powerlifting#personalbest#lifting#fitfam#fitness#menintights#mensfitness#madeinbrooklyn
There’s a beast in every woman and it stirs when you put a barbell in her hands. Challenged the hell out of myself tonight. Got up to 135lbs!! Not as clean as I would’ve liked it to be but it’s progress. If anybody ever told you it was going to be easy, they fucking lied. I crave the struggle and the pain. I’m hungry for success and my journey is only beginning!!
First time hitting over 300 lbs. I felt like on the first one I let go early and thought I had more in the tank so I went for a second rep. A little shaky and I feel like I got my hips too high but the weight went up and my back felt good. #success#deadlift#smallbutmighty#300

Exotic back exercises, and how to do 'em
Today I'll be sharing a how-to of two typical back movements that I do, but you don't often see other people doing.
The first is a compound, and I believe I've done it but not explained it, idk. It's a deadlift to row variation. So, this is a compound movement, and a composition of two compound movements.... Fancy 😏. Anyhow, set up as you would normally to deadlift, except use a double overhand grip, not that other crap. Explode upward as you would normally, except don't extend all the way up. Instead, pause around where you would to do a barbell row, and do just that - ROW! you'll see me pop up a little extra, and stand taller than I do on my rows, and that's okay, that's just the weight carrying you up and showing you're exploding up! That's good! You'll see me still correct myself and try to stay down though. Always remember to focus on that squeeze for them big lats.
Single arm landmine row, great variation of the single arm dumbbell row. I alternate between these and dumbbells to keep the same movement and muscles worked, but also to make slight differences. Remember my talk about consistency, you can't be switching up exercises all the time. Your body needs to adapt to grow! Back to the lift: keep a narrow but stable foot width next to a bar in a landmine hold. Grab the bar at the end, near the loaded weight, and bright straight up just like a dumbbell row, and squeeze at the top. I am not slouching, nor am I letting the weight pull me down. It looks like it, but if you actually look closely you'll see my shoulder does not slouch, only stretches. Keeping your hand on your knee stable helps with this. Just watch closely and mimic me!
Shoot me questions in my dm 😎
Nerd note: look how smooth that 60fps is 😍 my edited videos have 30fps bc the editor I use doesn't support 60fps. Any *free* suggestions let ya boy know, I want smooth edited videos! •
I threw up twice before this from mixing seaweed with a sweet and salty almond bar, no bueno because this was supposed be butter... Great way to start off my PR week feeling brittle. I just need to be more careful checking expiration dates 🤭
275 for a grindy 1 (+30lb PR) @wesley_trac

4 years ago, At 43 years old, post accident, post spine and shoulder surgeries, I was told I would always need a walking cane and AFO to function, and that 10lbs would be the most weight I could lift. I was also told, I would not be able to lift anything over my head, I would not squat past parallel and never be able to get on my tip toes.
Today, at 47 years old, I am a Supertotal Athlete: I am a powerlifter, I am a weightlifter, I am a yogi.
I can definitely lift more than 10lbs,I can lift things over my head, I can squat past parallel, and I can perform triple extension (and be on my top toes).
I am not strong because I lift weights, I am strong because I lift myself up no matter how hard and no matter how many times I fall. 🏋🏽♀️

Are you looking for something to do on Saturday? Why not come out to the @womensbarbellclassic at @22ndstbarbell. This meet/ party will feature all female lifters, not to mention a DJ, silent auction, and the People’s Most Beautiful Bulldog, @tank22bb. $5 gets you in the door for all the festivities with proceeds going to help out Paige Kleckner with medical bills and recovery expenses stemming from a motorcycle accident last October. There will also be beer...and the more you drink, the more entertaining I appear to be on the mic. Come out and support Paige and all the lifters. Let’s get rowdy! #womensbarbellclassic#22bb#bench#deadlift#pushpull#freebeeronsunday
5 weeks of training until WAPA States
2nd week doing 5x5s
First week back to deadlifting from the ground after a hamstring strain, feeling safe, just need to get the thumbs used to #hookgrip again and getting the knees out a bit more
Listening to #legendofhuma
Steering away from 8s a little and doing more 5s for my knee. This is also a deload with 530x5 and I could give a flying dick what it looked like because it felt great. Also switching back to conventional.
I'VE BEEN DEADLIFTING SO BAD LEGIT NEED A COACH 😂
Day 11/90 of the cut
Today was a form check to show how ignorant I was about my form. Better to find out now right, then to find out later when I break my back 😂
But through out this cut I wont be strength training, but focusing on my form more and more, to revamp and refine it. The goal is to compete some day, but I gotta do it with proper technique to lift heavier and to stay safe 😂
It sucks I'm basically doing everything from scratch, but everyone starts somewhere right?
Lol I don't know who reads these but I know you're my biggest fans if you do
Thank to @chase.pl for always filming me 😂
Be different. Train smart. The way you think. The way you move. The way you train. I rather move like a gorilla, have the strength of a gorilla rather than to look like a gorilla.
Strengthen your movements, pertaining to life movements.
Strength. Flow. Move. Recover.
